Two-day Boot Camp Builds Unity for BYU Baseball

BYUPic “Above the Best,” was the name of a two-day boot camp completed this weekend by BYU’s Baseball team.

The boot camp was under the direction of Captain Dante Fontenot of the Utah National Guard and Captain Jeremy Tannahill, Commander of D Company 2nd Battalion of the 211th Aviation Regiment and a Maintenance Test Pilot.

KR: Mountain West looking to build on Success

mwc_logo Kendall Rogers of Rivals continues his series of articles on conferences with the Mountain West conference. The teams in the conference are looking to build on the national media attention that came to them last season as Stephen Strasburg was a member of the San Diego State Aztecs. They were not the only team from the conference to get a bid to the NCAA tourney as TCU made the Super Regional in Austin and Utah won the Mountain West conference tournament to get in.

BYU releases 2010 Schedule

Seven teams who played in the NCAA baseball regional’s are among the schools on BYU’s schedule for 2010.

College Baseball Scores for April 6th

Monday is always a slow night of College Baseball and this week was no exception as only three games took place. Dallas Baptist knocked off Oral Roberts 5-4 while Washington State picked up a 12-8 victory over BYU and lastly Gonzaga beat regional rival Washington 7-3. I will occasionally check in with some great newspaper articles from around the country. The first article today is from The Republican about Amherst College baseball coach Bill Thurston who currently has 795 wins who is entering his 44th and final season in charge of the program. The next article comes from The Hoya which is a student newspaper for Georgetown who recaps the weekend action for the Hoyas. The final article today comes from The Huntsville Item who stops in and talks with BYU pitcher Jeremy Toole who is transitioning from a junior college to Division 1 baseball. CBB Scoreboard for Feb. 24th

There was only one game today involving a ranked squad where the Baylor Bears took on the BYU Cougars. The Baylor Bears won 7-6 with the winning run coming on a passed ball in the bottom of the ninth. The full game recap is posted below courtesy of Baylor Media Relations. Big 12 Recap for February 20th

I was able to get away from work and make it out to Disch Falk Field by the 2nd inning. It was a great Friday Afternoon to take in a game of baseball. Texas open the game with Sophomore Chance Ruffin and UI-C counter with junior left-hander Chris Kovacevich.

The Longhorns manufactured one run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Travis Tucker led off the frame with a single through the right side of the infield. A sacrifice bunt by Brandon Loy and a wild pitch pushed Tucker to third and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Belt.

Big 12 Opening Weekend Series Preview

With the Baseball Season finally here-here are the match ups on the teams in the Big 12. Baylor will be hosting Pacific in a 3 game series at the Baylor Ball Park. The Kansas Jayhawks will be taking part in the Service Academies Spring Classic, Millington, TN. Kansas State will be headed to Houston, Texas to take on Houston Cougars in a weekend series. Missouri is headed to the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix, Ariz where they will be playing Nevada and Gonzaga. Nebraska will be traveling to Louisiana-Lafayette in a four game set.
