2012 West Coast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The University of San Diego has been selected to win the 2012 West Coast Conference baseball championship in a preseason poll of the WCC’s nine head coaches. The Toreros earned five first-place votes and 59 overall points in the poll. BYU vs New Mexico Suspensions Announced (VIDEO)

On Saturday afternoon, BYU and New Mexico were involved in an altercation in which both benches emptied and punches were thrown. The Mountain West Conference announced on Monday that eleven student athletes were suspended while BYU head baseball coach Vance Law was reprimanded over the incident. I wonder if the BYU Honor Code says anything about fighting in it and whether the Cougars players will face more discipline from the university. 2011 Mountain West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Five-time defending Mountain West Conference champion TCU is the unanimous favorite to win its sixth consecutive regular season MWC baseball title in 2011, according to a vote of the seven MWC head coaches and a selected media panel. The Horned Frogs received all 16 first-place votes and 112 points overall, while BYU garnered 84 points to finish second in the poll. San Diego State collected 75 points for a third-place ranking in the poll, while New Mexico was fourth (71 points). 2011 CBD Season Preview: Mountain West

The Mountain West Conference was dominated by TCU last season as the Horned Frogs went 21-5 to win the conference by four games over New Mexico, who went 14-8. San Diego State finished third, with a 13-11 record. BYU finished in fourth place at 12-12, while UNLV finished in fifth place with a 11-13 record. BYU Releases 2011 Schedule


BYULogo Five schools that played in last season’s NCAA Tournament are on the 2011 BYU baseball schedule.

TCU, New Mexico, Arizona State, Oregon and Washington State were part of the NCAA tournament last season.

“We are excited to announce our schedule for the 2011 season,” said BYU coach Vance Law. “Once again Coach (Bobby) Applegate has done a terrific job in scheduling some quality programs from outstanding conferences.

Southland Conference recap 03/06/10

Gougler was the only Lion with multiple hits, putting up a line of two-for-three with two runs scored and a walk.

Southeastern Louisiana 4, Texas Southern 1

HAMMOND, La. – The 2010 Southeastern Louisiana baseball team now has the school’s all-time best winning streak all to itself. After tying the mark Friday, the Lions broke it Saturday, taking their 11th straight game to improve to 11-0 on the year. The 4-1 victory over Texas Southern also clinched the series for Southeastern.

Southland Conference Recap 03/05/2010

Russo allowed seven hits and three runs in his 7.2 innings of work. The senior struck out a career-high eight batters.


Texas State 5, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3

SAN MARCOS, Texas – After trailing the majority of the game, Texas State spurred a four-run eighth-inning rally and earned its first win of the Southland Conference season with a 5-3 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday night at Bobcat Field.

Texas State improves to 4-4 on the season and 1-0 in league play, while A&M-Corpus Christi falls to 5-3 and 0-1, respectively.

Mountain West Conference Recap for Feb. 20th

MountainWestConference COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -New Mexico scored four unanswered runs to rally for a 6-5 upset of No. 1 Texas on Saturday, while No. 11 TCU won a 12-7 slugfest with Sam Houston State. Utah also collected a win in non-conference action, splitting a twinbill with UC Davis (7-1, 1-6).
