Butler releases 2015 Schedule

ButlerLogoSmallINDIANAPOLIS — The Butler baseball team’s 2015 schedule has been unveiled by Head Coach Steve Farley after posting an overall record of 20-30 in the 2014 season, while going 7-11 in BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs will return junior infielder Chris Maranto and his .309 batting average with hopes of qualifying for the 2015 BIG EAST Conference Tournament at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., which will be held May 21-24, 2015. 2015 Big East Preseason Poll Released

BigEast.jpgNEW YORK – For the second-straight season, the voting for preseason favorite is split by just one vote, this time in favor of St. John’s, who was the BIG EAST baseball coaches’ decision for No. 1 with 32 total points, three first-place votes. Creighton, last year’s regular-season champion was picked second with 31 points with Seton Hall a close third at 29 votes. Creighton and Seton Hall split the final four first-place votes evenly. 2014 Big East Preseason Conference Poll

BigEastLogoNEW YORK, N.Y. – Creighton, one of three conference newcomers this season, is the narrow favorite in BIG EAST baseball in 2014, according to the coaches poll announced on Thursday. The Bluejays claimed a poll-topping 32 points with two first-place votes, edging out Seton Hall and St. John’s for No. 1.

There was more good news for Creighton, as a league-high four players earned Preseason All-BIG EAST honors. Among them were senior outfielder Mike Gerber, who was named the Preseason Player of the Year, and sophomore hurler Tommy Strunc, who picked up Preseason Pitcher of the Year accolades. Butler releases 2014 Schedule

ButlerLogoSmallINDIANAPOLIS – The Butler baseball program will join the BIG EAST conference for the 2014 season after posting a 25-27 record one year ago in the Atlantic 10. The Bulldogs return A-10 All-Rookie Team selection Mike Kseniak to the lineup in hopes of making the BIG EAST Conference Tournament which will be held in Brooklyn N.Y. from May 21-25. INDIANAPOLIS – A new conference schedule and two games at 2012 College World Series Champ Arizona highlight the 2013 Butler baseball schedule. KALAMAZOO, Mich.– Brown struck for three runs in the first inning and never looked back, clinching the annual Brown & Gold series with a 10-5 win in decisive Game 3. Senior left-hander Casey Webber (Tinley Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) started for the Brown and tossed three scoreless innings, striking out three and walking none. Purdue: Black 11 Gold 10

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – An early 8-0 lead helped the Black team withstand a valiant comeback effort and earn an 11-10 victory in game two of Purdue baseball’s Black & Gold Series Friday afternoon at Lambert Field.

UNC Scrimmage: Navy 5 Blue 5
