2014 Big East Preseason Conference Poll

BigEastLogoNEW YORK, N.Y. – Creighton, one of three conference newcomers this season, is the narrow favorite in BIG EAST baseball in 2014, according to the coaches poll announced on Thursday. The Bluejays claimed a poll-topping 32 points with two first-place votes, edging out Seton Hall and St. John’s for No. 1.

There was more good news for Creighton, as a league-high four players earned Preseason All-BIG EAST honors. Among them were senior outfielder Mike Gerber, who was named the Preseason Player of the Year, and sophomore hurler Tommy Strunc, who picked up Preseason Pitcher of the Year accolades. Butler releases 2014 Schedule

The Bulldogs return A-10 All-Rookie Team selection Mike Kseniak to the lineup in hopes of making the BIG EAST Conference Tournament which will be held in Brooklyn N.Y. from May 21-25. 2013 Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll Released

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Brown struck for three runs in the first inning and never looked back, clinching the annual Brown & Gold series with a 10-5 win in decisive Game 3. Senior left-hander Casey Webber (Tinley Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) started for the Brown and tossed three scoreless innings, striking out three and walking none. Purdue: Black 11 Gold 10

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – An early 8-0 lead helped the Black team withstand a valiant comeback effort and earn an 11-10 victory in game two of Purdue baseball’s Black & Gold Series Friday afternoon at Lambert Field.

UNC Scrimmage: Navy 5 Blue 5

Butler Baseball Announces Coaching Changes

INDIANAPOLIS – Head coach Steve Farley and the Butler baseball program have announced coaching staff changes for the upcoming 2012 season. DJ Throneburg, who joined the staff this past season, will now serve as the program’s top assistant coach. Michael Dalton and Brian Hiscox have also been added to the staff.
