Bowling Green releases 2015 Schedule

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—The Bowling Green State University baseball program, under the direction of head coach Danny Schmitz, announced their 2015 schedule on Wednesday (Dec. 10) morning. Coming off a 25-27 season in 2014, the Falcons will begin their season on Feb. 13. The 2015 schedule will feature all 11 Mid-American Conference foes, and at least three first-time opponents.

“We are excited to announce our 2015 schedule,” head coach Danny Schmitz said. “The early season schedule will both challenge us and prepare us for Mid-American Conference play. With such a young team, it will be important to get game experience against a very good lineup of teams.” Continue reading

2014 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

macCLEVELAND, Ohio – 2013 Regular Season Champion Kent State was picked to repeat as MAC East Division & Tournament Champions, the Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday. Ball State, last year’s MAC Tournament runner-up was picked to win the West Division. The Flashes garnered four votes to win this year’s MAC Tournament, while Ball State garnered three votes to win the Tournament crown and NCAA automatic bid. Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Miami and Toledo each received one vote to win the Tournament. The preseason poll was voted on by the league’s 12 Head Coaches. Continue reading

Bowling Green releases 2014 Schedule

BowlingGreenPileBOWLING GREEN, Ohio—Head baseball coach Danny Schmitz has announced the 2014 schedule. The Falcons, who are coming off a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2013, will begin their MAC Championship defense on February 14.

The schedule features 53 games, with a mix of 26 non-conference games, and 27 Mid-American Conference games. The Falcons will face all 11 MAC teams at least twice during the 2014 campaign. Continue reading

2013 Louisville NCAA Regional Day 2 Recap

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oklahoma State earned its first NCAA Tournament win in four years Saturday as the third-seeded Cowboys advanced in the NCAA Louisville Regional with a 7-3 win over fourth-seeded Bowling Green in an elimination game at Jim Patterson Stadium.

With its first NCAA tourney win since the 2009 NCAA Clemson Regional, the Cowboys improved to 40-18 overall as they also reached the 40-win mark for the first time since 2008. Continue reading

2013 Louisville NCAA Regional Preview


Louisville’s season didn’t end as well as they would have liked. Just two games into the 2013 Big East tournament, and the Cardinals found themselves ousted by UConn. Though losing their opportunity at a national seed in the NCAA tournament, the Cardinals were selected to host the regional at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The theme in this four-team field? Pitching. Each team comes with its own set of strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, each squad boasts some talented arms, making this the regional tournament with arguably the deepest pitching pool. Continue reading

  • Doubleheader scheduled for tomorrow, starting at 12:05 PM.

Kansas 3 Bowling Green 1 (Game 1)

  • Kansas took the lead in the seventh on a two-run single from LF Tucker Tharp.
  • SS Kevin Kuntz led the Jayhawks with two hits. Kansas had six hits total.
  • Freshman LHP Wes Benjamin picked up the win in his first career start, going seven innings and allowing only one run on five hits. Benjamin walked one and struck out three.
  • Tanner Poppe picked up his first save of the season, allowing a hit and striking out a batter in the ninth. Continue reading

2012 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll Released

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC West Division Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. The Golden Flashes were also selected by seven of the leagues head coaches to take home the 2012 MAC Tournament title. Continue reading
