BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—The Bowling Green State University baseball program, under Head Coach Danny Schmitz, has announced the 2013 baseball schedule. The schedule features 55 games, including 20 games at the friendly confines of Warren E. Steller Field. The Falcons will finish the season by playing eight of their final 11 games at home. Kansas 3 Bowling Green 1 (Game 1)
- Kansas took the lead in the seventh on a two-run single from LF Tucker Tharp.
- SS Kevin Kuntz led the Jayhawks with two hits. Kansas had six hits total.
- Freshman LHP Wes Benjamin picked up the win in his first career start, going seven innings and allowing only one run on five hits. Benjamin walked one and struck out three.

2012 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll Released

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC West Division Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. Bowling Green releases 2012 Schedule

Bowling Green, Ohio—Head Coach Danny Schmitz and the Bowling Green State University baseball team announced a tentative schedule for the 2012 season today.
The schedule is highlighted by trips to Stillwater, Okla., to play the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a three-game series, and to Winterhaven, Fla. to play in the Russ Matt Invitational. Last season Oklahoma State finished 35-25, including a trip to the Belmont Regional in the NCAA Tournament. Read the rest of this entry »

Cape Cod Baseball League Recap for August 8th
The Orleans Firebirds scored a single run in the top of the ninth inning to tie up the game at four and a single run in the tenth to pick up a 5-4 victory over the Brewster Whitecaps to advance in the Cape Cod Baseball League Playoffs. They will take on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the next round.

Here are your Top Performers for July 23rd from the Cape Cod Baseball League. Only one game was played between Orleans Firebirds and the Brewster Whitecaps which the Firebirds won 4-3 in a rain shortened six innings. The other games in the league were rained out.

BATON ROUGE – No.1 LSU completed the weekend sweep of William and Mary as the Tigers captured both games of a Sunday doubleheader, winning Game 1 by a score of 9-6 and taking Game 2 by a 7-4 margin in Alex Box Stadium.
With the wins, the Tigers (7-0) completed their second series sweep of the season. William and Mary fell to 3-3 with Sunday’s losses.

BATON ROUGE- After trailing 8-0 in the middle of the sixth inning, No.1 LSU came back to score eight runs in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the seventh to defeat William and Mary, 10-9, Saturday afternoon in Alex Box Stadium.
The Tigers (5-0) notched their largest comeback victory since April 10, 1988 when they trailed Ole Miss, 13-3, through six innings and came back to win, 15-13. The loss was William and Mary’s first of the season, dropping the Tribe to 3-1.

FAYETTEVILLE – After giving up an early run, the No. 16 University of Arkansas baseball team rallied with the help of three home runs to defeat Troy, 10-1, Friday afternoon at Baum Stadium. Andy Wilkins, James McCann and Brett Eibner each had a home run for the Razorbacks, while TJ Forrest picked up the win out of the bullpen. Zack Cox and Tim Carver chipped in with two hits apiece.
Arkansas improves to 3-1 on the young season with the win, while Troy drops its second consecutive game to stand at 3-2.

No. 7 Florida (2-0) clinched its season-opening weekend series with a 9-1 victory over USF (0-2) on Saturday afternoon before a crowd of 3,723 fans at McKethan Stadium. Freshman left-hander Brian Johnson (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) tossed 5.2 scoreless innings in his collegiate debut to pick up the win, while sophomore Tyler Thompson (Tequesta, Fla.) (2-for-5) had a career-high four RBI, highlighted by a bases-clearing double in the eighth inning. Freshmen Kamm Washington (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and Austin Maddox (Jacksonville, Fla.) belted solo homers in the triumph for the Orange and Blue.
