COLUMBIA, S.C. – Campbell scored three runs in the top of the 12th inning to top Old Dominion 4-1 Saturday in NCAA Columbia Regional action at Carolina Stadium.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior left-handed pitcher Dan Weigel pitched a complete-game four-hitter and did not allow a run over the final eight innings in leading the Bucknell baseball team to a 5-2 NCAA Regional victory over Liberty Saturday afternoon at Davenport Field. It was the second NCAA postseason victory for the Bison, who equaled the program record for wins in a season as they improved to 31-20-1 on the season. Maryland 4 Old Dominion 3
COLUMBIA, S.C. – In its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 43 years, Maryland waited until its final at-bat to win its first tournament game since 1970. The Terps completed a come-from-behind victory with three runs in the ninth to walk-off against Old Dominion by the score of 4-3 in the opening game of the Columbia Regional Friday afternoon at Carolina Stadium. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia baseball team opened the 2014 NCAA Tournament with a 10-1 victory over Bucknell in the Charlottesville Regional Friday (May 30) at Davenport Field.

One of the most tested teams in the tournament, Virginia (44-13) has played nine teams that made it to this spring’s field of 64. Ranked between from three to four in the national polls, Brian O’Connor’s team has been impressive, but saw their bid for the ACC title get cut short with a 6-4 loss to FSU on Saturday. - South Carolina is making the 30th NCAA Tournament appearance in school history and is in the tournament for the 15th consecutive season.
- Maryland is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance all-time, but its first since 1971.
- Old Dominion is making its eighth NCAA appearance all-time, but first since 2000.
- Campbell won the Big South Conference Tournament championship to earn the school’s third NCAA appearance and first since 1990.

Campbell University closer Ryan Thompson has been flying under the radar the last two seasons but he broke the school record for saves in a season with the Camels for the second straight season with his 11th of the season on Wednesday night. Thompson currently sports a 4-1 record with a 0.90 ERA in 60.1 innings this year. He has struck out 67 batters while walking 20. MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Player of the Week awards for the period ending March 2 today. Liberty’s junior infielder Ryan Seiz was named National Hitter of the Week, while Maryland’s senior right-handed pitcher Jake Stinnett was named National Pitcher of the Week.
