Fresno, Calif. – Freshmen Tom Lemke and Kurt Giller held a potent Fresno State in check, as Nebraska won the final game of the four-game series by a score of 4-1 Monday night at Beiden Field.

Lemke (1-0) tossed five shutout innings for his first career win, as the right-hander scattered five hits and struck out six in his Husker debut. Giller closed the door on NU’s first win of the season, going the final four innings for his first save, as he allowed one run on four hits.

TUCSON, Ariz.- – For the first time since 2006, the Missouri baseball team dropped its season opener, falling to Gonzaga by a score of 10-6 in the start of play at the Collegiate Cactus Classic in Tucson, Ariz.

Prior to Friday’s loss, the Tigers had won four-straight opening day games and six of their last seven.

"We got to play," Head Coach Tim Jamieson said. "We got a lot of people involved and we know what things we need to focus on. There were a few situations where if we can make the play, runs don’t score."

Gonzaga put the first two runs on the board in the top of the first inning, then added a run with a second inning home run by Cameron Edman.

This is the Big 12 recap for Saturday , April 24th. Kansas State took the opener from Texas as AJ Morris threw a complete game. In the Game Texas had Morris on the rope early in the contest but could not put the finishing touches on AJ. AJ went the distance but, he threw 139 pitches. In other action Oklahoma took the opener from Baylor in Waco, 4-2. Oklahoma State 4 Texas A&M 1, Nebraska 11 Kansas 4, and Missouri 18 Texas Tech 7.
