Ball State releases 2015 Schedule

Ball State’s baseball team, under the direction of head coach Rich Maloney, has announced its 2015 schedule.

“We are excited about the upcoming season and competing against so many outstanding programs,” Maloney said. “Our non-conference schedule will be foreboding in playing UNC-Wilmington, Kentucky, Elon, Coastal Carolina, West Virginia, Dartmouth, Illinois twice, Indiana, Purdue twice, Northwestern and Maine. All of those programs have recently won their conference, played in NCAA tournament or have a storied tradition. We are doing this in hopes of preparing our team for the 27 game grind of MAC play. 2014 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

macCLEVELAND, Ohio – 2013 Regular Season Champion Kent State was picked to repeat as MAC East Division & Tournament Champions, the Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday. Ball State, last year’s MAC Tournament runner-up was picked to win the West Division. The Flashes garnered four votes to win this year’s MAC Tournament, while Ball State garnered three votes to win the Tournament crown and NCAA automatic bid. Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Miami and Toledo each received one vote to win the Tournament. The preseason poll was voted on by the league’s 12 Head Coaches. Continue reading

Rich Maloney heads back to Ball State

Rich Maloney, who posted a 256-144-1 (.640) record as the head baseball coach at Ball State from 1996-2002, will return as the program’s head coach, according to Ball State director of intercollegiate athletics Bill Scholl.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Rich Maloney back to the Ball State family and the Muncie community,” Scholl says. “He was an integral part of continuing the outstanding tradition of Ball State baseball in his previous tenure with the Cardinals, and we are looking forward to his return. Coach Maloney has built an outstanding resume as a collegiate head coach and his proven track record was a key factor in his hiring at Ball State.” Continue reading

2012 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll Released

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC West Division Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. The Golden Flashes were also selected by seven of the leagues head coaches to take home the 2012 MAC Tournament title. Continue reading

Ball State releases 2012 Schedule

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State baseball second-year head coach Alex Marconi announced a 52-game schedule for the 2012 season Thursday afternoon, including 16 games at Ball Diamond.

The schedule is highlighted by an April 10 matchup against Butler at Victory Field, the home of the Indianapolis Indians, the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Victory Field, which opened in 1996, has been home to the Triple-A All-Star Game, IHSAA Baseball State Finals. Continue reading
