Ball State releases 2013 Schedule

Ball State names Dustin Glant as Assistant Coach

Rich Maloney heads back to Ball State

Rich Maloney, who posted a 256-144-1 (.640) record as the head baseball coach at Ball State from 1996-2002, will return as the program’s head coach, according to Ball State director of intercollegiate athletics Bill Scholl.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Rich Maloney back to the Ball State family and the Muncie community,” Scholl says. “He was an integral part of continuing the outstanding tradition of Ball State baseball in his previous tenure with the Cardinals, and we are looking forward to his return. 2012 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll Released

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC West Division Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. Ball State releases 2012 Schedule

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State baseball second-year head coach Alex Marconi announced a 52-game schedule for the 2012 season Thursday afternoon, including 16 games at Ball Diamond.

The schedule is highlighted by an April 10 matchup against Butler at Victory Field, the home of the Indianapolis Indians, the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Victory Field, which opened in 1996, has been home to the Triple-A All-Star Game, IHSAA Baseball State Finals. Read the rest of this entry »

Ball State to hold 100-Inning Game Fundraiser

Cardinal fans are encouraged to sponsor the team during the event to aid the team in offsetting expenses for the spring trip, new uniforms equipment.

Ball State releases 2011 Schedule

BallStateScheduleMUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State baseball first-year head coach Alex Marconi announced a 52-game schedule for the 2011 season Tuesday afternoon, including 21 games at Ball Diamond. The Cardinals return 18 letterwinners from last season’s team that posted a 19-8 record in Mid-American Conference play.

The Cardinals open the season February 18 as they begin a three-game series at Kennesaw State in Georgia, marking the first ever games against the Owls. Ball State continues its season-opening 14-game road stretch February 25 with a three-game series at Southeast Missouri.

Ball State adds Jeremy Plexico to Coaching Staff

PlexicoPhoto MUNCIE, Ind. – First-year Ball State baseball head coach Alex Marconi announced the hiring of Jeremy Plexico as assistant coach/pitching coach for the Cardinals Tuesday afternoon. Plexico joins assistant coach Pete Milas and volunteer assistant coach Eric Van Matre on the staff for the 2011 season.

“I am very excited to have Jeremy join our coaching staff,” Marconi said. “With his playing background both in college and professionally, he has acquired the skill set to be instrumental in our pitchers’ development. He comes highly recommended from many well respected coaches in college baseball, both as a coach and as a person. I am excited to see the development of our pitching staff under his guidance.”

Ball State names Alex Marconi Head Coach

AlexMarconiBallState Alex Marconi, who has spent the last five years as an assistant baseball coach at Ball State University, has been named the school’s head baseball coach, according to Ball State athletics director Tom Collins.

"We had an outstanding pool of candidates for a very attractive head baseball coaching position at Ball State," Collins say. "Coach Marconi’s knowledge of the program, Ball State University and the Muncie community played a key role in his being named our head coach. He is an outstanding person with great integrity and character who has a tremendous work ethic and desire to be the head baseball coach at Ball State. We welcome Coach Marconi and his family to this new position and look forward to his future with the Cardinals."
