2012 CBD Season Preview: SEC

2011 was a year of confirmation for the SEC. Not only did South Carolina claim its second national championship in as many years, but SEC teams occupied the top three national rankings for the majority of the season. Furthermore, all three of those teams made the trip to Omaha, while seven teams from the SEC made the NCAA tournament—both tallies being the most of any conference in college baseball. In essence, 2011 cemented the SEC’s ascendancy atop college baseball, and 2012 promises to be more of the same.  Continue reading

LITTLE ROCK - A two-out rally in the top of the third helped the Silver Team claim a 4-3 win in the opener of the UALR Fall World Series Tuesday evening at Gary Hogan Field. CBD Visit: Auburn opens up Fall Practice

The Auburn University baseball team began their first fall season practices on Wednesday, September 21st, with much anticipation and excitement for their future. After coming off a second straight SEC Tournament appearance in the 2011 season, the Tigers lost most of their starters to the MLB first-year player draft. While some may consider this a devastating loss for the team, the Tigers managed to recruit 17 newcomers–12 incoming freshman and 5 transfers–to pick up the slack. Continue reading

Auburn releases 2012 Schedule

Coming off of a second consecutive SEC Tournament appearance, the Auburn baseball team will play a total of 32 games against teams that advanced to the 2011 NCAA Tournament during the upcoming season as head coach John Pawlowski released the 2012 schedule on Monday. Of the 32 games against NCAA Tournament participants, 16 will come at Plainsman Park while 21 of them will be played from April 1 through May 19. Continue reading

Gabe Gross And Wes Gilmer Join Auburn Baseball For 2012 Season

Seven year Major League Baseball veteran and 2000 All-America outfielder Gabe Gross and four-year letter winner and 2011 team captain Wes Gilmer will be undergraduate assistant coaches for the 2012 Auburn baseball season, Auburn Head Coach John Pawlowski has announced. Gross will work primarily with the Auburn outfielders while Gilmer will work with the infielders and catchers. Continue reading
