Auburn’s Sunny Golloway under Internal Investigation


Update Number 3 at 7pm on June 3rd

Blake Austin, a catcher on the Auburn baseball team tweeted out the following at 6:27pm. The record of Auburn actually has NOTHING to do with this story. The issues are the way players were treated by the coaching staff.

Update Number 2 at 5pm on June 3rd

Two independent sources have confirmed that Auburn head coach Sunny Golloway and Athletic Director Jay Jacobs were meeting today to discuss a reduced buyout of Golloway’s contract. This would lead to Golloway leaving the program and the Tigers getting a new head coach.

Other sources around the Auburn program have stated there was verbal abuse of the players that has led to this investigation.

2014 SEC Preseason Coaches Poll

SEC Circle Gold Letters on White BackgroundThe South Carolina Gamecocks are predicted to win the 2014 Southeastern Conference baseball championship by a slim one-vote margin, as voted by the league’s 14 baseball coaches in the 23rd annual preseason SEC poll.

The Gamecocks, ranked No. 14 nationally in the preseason USA Today Coaches’ Poll, seek to capture their fourth SEC Championship. Finish: Regionals (4th place, Bloomington)

2013 was a season of frustration and disappointment for a team coming off back to back to back College World Series appearances. Injuries decimated the Gators, and many even questioned whether they belonged in a regional after finishing one game over .500 heading into postseason play. Auburn releases 2014 Schedule

AuburnPracticeJerseyFeaturedAUBURN, Ala. – Auburn will play 29 of its 56 games against participants in last year’s NCAA Tournament as first-year head coach Sunny Golloway released the Tigers’ 2014 baseball schedule Wednesday.

The Tigers will play 36 home games at Plainsman Park, 15 in the SEC and 21 in non-conference play. Eleven of Auburn’s 14 mid-week games will be in its home park. Continue reading Auburn releases 2014 Schedule

Auburn University Names Sunny Golloway as New Head Coach

SunnyGollowayHeadshotAUBURN, Ala. – Sunny Golloway has been named Auburn’s head baseball coach, Auburn Director of Athletics Jay Jacobs announced Friday. Golloway has spent the past eight seasons as head coach at the University of Oklahoma, where he led the Sooners to seven NCAA Regional berths, four NCAA Super Regionals and the 2010 College World Series.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity because I’ve always held the Auburn baseball program in very high regard,” Golloway said. “The history of the Auburn program was a huge factor in making this decision. Secondly, the Southeastern Conference is the top baseball conference in America. Being able to compete in the SEC is a challenge that we look forward to. With our location, we are in a hotbed of talent. Auburn announces Coaching Change for 2014 Season

JohnPawlowskiAUBURN — Auburn is in the market for a new baseball coach after relieving John Pawlowski of his duties Monday after five years on the job.

“I have concluded it is time for our baseball program to move in a new direction,” said Athletics Director Jay Jacobs. “We have a rich baseball heritage and our goal is to compete for championships. SEC Tournament Game Two: Auburn vs. Alabama

sec_baseball_13The Alabama Crimson Tide sent the Tigers packing on Tuesday afternoon as they defeated Auburn 6-3 in the single-elimination SEC Tournament game. Ben Moore, Austen Smith and Brett Booth all had multiple-hits for the Crimson Tide, combining for three of Alabama’s RBI and four of their runs. #6 Ole Miss (37-19, 15-14)

The Rebels have been a bit up and down throughout the season, however when Ole Miss is on their A-game, they can compete with the best.  Offensively, Rebel leadoff man Tanner Mathis is one of the hottest bats in the SEC coming off of a 7-10 weekend at LSU. Pair Mathis’s current hot-streak with the consistent bats of Turner, Mistone and Anderson, and the Rebel offense has the ability to do some damage in Hoover.
