LUBBOCK, Texas —The College Baseball Hall of Fame announced Friday the 25 pitchers on the newest edition of the Pitcher of the Year Award Watch List.
The winner of the Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond Sports, will be announced on June 30 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the annual College Baseball Night of Champions. The event features the presentation of numerous awards and the induction ceremony for this year’s Hall of Fame class.
FROM CBD NEWS SOURCE CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League released the preseason baseball poll on Wednesday with both Navy and Bucknell tied at the top. Both teams were picked first with 39 points, while Navy received more first-place votes (five) than Bucknell (four). Army was picked just behind Navy and Bucknell with 38 points and one first-place vote, while Holy Cross took the fourth spot with 29 points and two first-place votes. Lafayette and Lehigh, respectively, rounded out the preseason poll, which is voted on by the Patriot League’s head coaches and sports information contacts. WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army baseball head coach Joe Sottolano released the Black Knights’ 2012 schedule this week. The rigorous slate features 19 home games at Doubleday Field, including three Patriot League series.
Army will open its season the third weekend of February (17-19) as the Black Knights travel to High Point, N.C., to face High Point in a three-game series. Each professional baseball player has a unique journey to explain their path to the minor leagues. For First Lieutenant Cole White, his path took him through the U.S. Military Academy.
Following the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, White decided as a high school junior that he was going to serve his country after graduation. With an appointment to West Point in hand, White cemented his name in the Black Knights’ record book and was eventually drafted by the Pirates in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.
