FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas baseball team will play 28 games against teams that advanced to the 2013 NCAA Tournament and 35 games at Baum Stadium as head coach Dave Van Horn announced the Razorbacks’ 2014 schedule on Monday.
“This year’s schedule is going to be a good challenge,” Coach Van Horn said. “The way I feel about the schedule is we need to be challenged early and often so we can get ready for conference play.” Continue reading

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Jacob Mahan and Brett McAfee each had three RBI and two hits to lead No. 15 Arkansas to a 12-3 victory over Bryant on Sunday afternoon in the Manhattan Regional at Tointon Family Stadium.
The Razorbacks improve to 39-21 on the season, while Bryant ends its season with a 45-18-1 record. Arkansas advances to the Manhattan Regional final and will face No. 17 Kansas State tonight at 7:05 p.m. The Razorbacks will have to beat the Wildcats tonight and again tomorrow to win the regional. MANHATTAN, Kan. – The 15th-ranked Arkansas baseball team eliminated Wichita State from the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 victory in the Manhattan Regional.
Arkansas improves to 38-21 on the season, while Wichita State ends its season with a 39-28 record. The Razorbacks will next play at 2:05 p.m. tomorrow against the loser of tonight’s game between No. 1 seed Kansas State and fourth-seed Bryant. Tomorrow’s game will be available on ESPN3. MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State scored nine first-inning runs to set the tone for the afternoon, while second baseman Ross Kivett hit a pair of home runs as the top-seeded Wildcats opened the 2013 NCAA Manhattan Regional with a 20-11 victory over No. 4-seed Wichita State Friday afternoon at Tointon Family Stadium.
K-State, which scored in every inning except the second, improved to 42-17 on the year and will face the winner of the evening session between No. 2-seed Arkansas and third-seeded Bryant at 7 p.m., Saturday evening. Wichita State fell to 39-27 on the year and will face the loser of Friday’s evening matchup in an elimination game at 2 p.m., Saturday afternoon. Continue reading

This year’s Manhattan Regional could turn out to be the toughest in the country, highlighted by a possible matchup of the No. 2 offense in the country, Kansas State, against the nation’s best pitching staff, in Arkansas. The seeds:

Earlier in the SEC Tournament, the LSU Tigers fell to Arkansas 4-1. In the rematch between two of the top seeded teams in the tournament, the game was a different story as the Tigers defeated Arkansas 3-1.
Arkansas took an early lead in the bottom of the third with an unearned run, however LSU answered in the sixth and seventh innings scoring three runs to take a lead that would remain for the rest of the game. Continue reading
