2013 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and Teams

sunbelt_thumb.jpgNEW ORLEANS – The Florida Atlantic Owls have been tabbed as the preseason favorites to win the 2013 Sun Belt Conference baseball title, the league announced on Monday.

FAU won the SBC regular season title in 2012 behind a 32-22 overall record and a 19-8 record in SBC play. This season, the Owls return six starters from that squad and four starting pitchers, including 2013 All-SBC Preseason selections pitcher Austin Gomber and first baseman Mark Nelson. Arkansas State releases 2013 Schedule

(1/8/2013) — Thirty-one home games, including 15 Sun Belt Conference matchups and games against regional rivals Ole Miss, Missouri and Memphis highlight the 2013 Arkansas State baseball schedule, which gets underway Feb. 15 when the Red Wolves welcome Bradley to Tomlinson Stadium and Kell Field for a three-game series.

The Red Wolves face competition from the SEC, C-USA, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley and the Southland Conference in non-league action, which includes six teams that participated in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Read the rest of this entry »

Arkansas State extends Tommy Raffo through 2017

Anthony Everman added to Arkansas State Coaching Staff

JONESBORO, Ark. (7/7/2012) —Arkansas State head baseball coach Tommy Raffo announced Saturday that Anthony Everman has joined the Red Wolves staff as an assistant coach. 2012 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The Panthers of FIU and the Trojans of Troy have been tabbed as the preseason favorites to win the 2012 Sun Belt Conference baseball title in a vote of the league’s head coaches.

FIU, which finished second overall in the standings in 2011, returns five starters to an offense that led the SBC in batting average, home runs and runs scored. The Panthers finished last season 20-9-1 in conference play. FIU received four first-place votes from the coaches and finished with 93 points. Read the rest of this entry »

Jason Laws added to Arkansas State Coaching Staff

JONESBORO, Ark. (8/17/11) – Arkansas State head baseball coach Tommy Raffo announced Wednesday the addition of Jason Laws as a volunteer assistant coach with the Red Wolves for the upcoming season.

Laws comes to ASU after serving as an assistant coach at South Dakota State University last season. Jason will assist with the offense and work with the catching core in addition to being the Camp Coordinator. Read the rest of this entry »

ACC Recap for Feb. 20th

The ACC wrapped up the weekend with all the teams in action. The conference went 9-4 with North Carolina sweeping a doubleheader with USC and Missouri.

ACC Weekend Preview (Feb. 18th-20th)

We start up the 2011 season today with all 12 ACC teams in action with most of the top teams facing weaker competition. The best two non-conference matchups this weekend is the Virginia Cavaliers taking part in the Auburn Tigers tourney while North Carolina heads to Southern California to take part in the USC Tournament while slipping in a game with Cal-State Fullerton on Saturday.
