PINE BLUFF, Ark.- Golden Lions Head Baseball Coach Carlos James announced Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s schedule for the 2011 season today. On the schedule are 24 games that will be played at both the new Torii Hunter Baseball & Softball Complex and Taylor Memorial Field along with 27 road matchups. Carlos James named Head Coach at Arkansas-Pine Bluff

PINE BLUFF, Ark.- The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Carlos James to the position of head baseball coach.
James arrives to UAPB after spending the previous two seasons at the University of Arkansas-Monticello where he served in the same capacity. The Pine Bluff native took over the struggling UAM Baseball team and turned them into a legitimate conference contender during his two years at the helm of program.

ATLANTA – Jacob Esch drew a bases-loaded walk to break a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning, and Andrew Robinson pitched a perfect ninth as the No. 3 Georgia Tech baseball team defeated rival Georgia, 6-5, Tuesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets have now won five-straight games at Russ Chandler Stadium against the Bulldogs, and improve to 14-1 on the season. Georgia fell to 8-9 overall with the loss.
SWAC Tourney moves to Shreveport

The 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament will be played at Shreveport, LA’s Fair Grounds Field, Commissioner Duer Sharp announced today.
This year’s tournament will be played May 26-30, with the top four teams in each of the SWAC’s Eastern and Western Divisions qualifying for Conference postseason play.
The SWAC Baseball Tournament returns to Fair Grounds Field for the first time since 2002. The park is home of the Shreveport-Bossier Captains of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball
Arkansas Pine Bluff’s Kevin Edwards passes away
Arkansas Pine Bluff pitcher Kevin Edwards died on Saturday evening after being involved in a single car accident. Edwards was driving on Interstate Highway 57 when he struck the wall and overturned. He has been a member of the Golden Lions baseball team for the last two seasons. He went 0-4 with a 10.27 ERA in 13 appearances and five starts last season. Funeral Service plans are not available at this time but I recommend checking the Arkansas Pine Bluff athletics website for the most up to date information.
