America East Conference Tournament Game 3: Stony Brook Eliminates Albany

StonyBrookTeamHuddleLowell, MA— Fourth seeded Stony Brook eliminated third seeded Albany 3-1 in game three of the America East Conference tournament. Brandon McNitt started on the mound for the Seawolves giving up five hits for one run through seven innings before Chad Lee came in to relieve him giving up two hits for no runs through his one inning of play. He battled out of a jam in the fifth inning as the Great Danes had loaded up the bases and were threatening to tie the game up at 2. Seawolves head coach Matt Senk visited McNitt to see how he was doing but decided to stick with him. “McNitt has been solid for us this year,” said Senk, “I thought he had good good stuff today so I thought he could get out of it.” Continue reading

America East Tournament Game 2: Binghamton shutouts Albany 9-0

BinghamtonSliding(2)Binghamton defeated (3)UAlbany 9-0 in game two of the America East championship. Jake Lambert started on the mound for the Bearcats pitching a complete game shut-out allowing two hits through nine innings. Shaun McGraw (3 for 4) had a great game for the Bearcats scoring three times, along with Brian Ruby (1 for 2) scored twice and picking up two RBIs. Other notable hitters include Zach Blanden (1 for 4) picking up one RBI, David Schanz (0 for 4) picking up an RBI, Daniel Nevares (1 for 5) scoring once and picking up an RBI, Jake Thomas (0 for 4) scoring one run, Nick Pancerella (0 for 2) picking up an RBI, and last John Howell (0 for 4) and Bill Bereszniewicz (0 for 2) scored once each. America East Conference Tournament Game 1: Maine defeats Stony Brook 7-0

Lowell, MA– (1)Maine defeated (4)Stony Brook 7-0 in game 1 of the the America East championship. Tommy Lawrence was on the hill for the Black Bears and pitched a complete game shut-out giving up only two hits throughout the game. Eric White (2 for 4) was great for Maine scoring twice and picking up four RBIs to go along with his homerun in the fifth inning. Other standouts include Alex Calbick (2 for 3) who picked up one RBI and scored twice, Troy Black (2 for 4) scored twice, Michael Fransoso (2 for 4) scored once, and Scott Heath (2 for 2) who picked up two RBIs. 2013 America East Preseason Coaches Poll

AmericaEastLogoCAMBRIDGE, Mass.— After a historic run to the College World Series, reigning America East champion and back-to-back regular-season title holder Stony Brook University was picked first in the 2013 America East Preseason Coaches’ poll as determined by a vote by the league’s six head coaches who were not allowed the vote for their own teams. Albany releases 2013 Schedule

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany baseball program, led by head coach Jon Mueller in his 13th year at the helm, has announced a 54-game slate for the 2013 season. The Great Danes will play 13 games against teams that made NCAA Tournament appearances a year ago, including SEC powerhouse South Carolina, who won the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship in 2010 and 2011, and finished 2012 as the nation’s runner-up.
