CBD Photo Gallery: USC Easily Defeats Akron
LOS ANGELES — For the second straight game, USC dominated Akron, winning 10-2 Saturday afternoon at Dedeaux Field. The Trojans moved to 6-0 on the season while the Zips dropped to 0-5.
Ben Mount led the way on the mound for USC, pitching seven innings to pick up his first win of the season. The only runs Mount allowed came on a long home run by Joey Havrilak that ricocheted off the parking structure beyond the right field fence.

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC West Division Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. Akron announces 2012 Coaching Staff

AKRON, Ohio – New University of Akron baseball coach Rick Rembielak announced the hiring of three assistant coaches today. Offensive coach Fred Worth, pitching coach Matt Ford, and volunteer assistant coach Drew Saylor will make up Rembielak’s staff for the upcoming 2012 season.
Experienced collegiate and high school coach Fred Worth will mentor the Akron hitters in 2012. Worth comes to Akron with over 30 years of high school coaching experience and 10-plus years of collegiate experience. Read the rest of this entry »
Akron hires Rick Rembielak Head Coach

AKRON, Ohio – Rick Rembielak, a three-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year who has compiled more than 500 career wins at Wake Forest University and Kent State University, has been hired as the head baseball coach at The University of Akron, UA Director of Athletics Tom Wistrcill announced Friday. Akron’s Pat Bangtson Resigns

Akron head baseball coach Pat Bangtson has resigned after six years with the school. This past season, he went 16-37 overall record and a 7-20 mark in Mid-American Conference play. It was a tough year for the Zips as they lost 15 one run games including 11 in conference play. His six year record at the school was a disappointing 119-188. Read the rest of this entry »

2010 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season Champion Bowling Green and defending West Division Champion Ball State have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. The Cardinals were also selected by six of the leagues head coaches to take home the 2010 MAC Tournament title.
The Falcons were followed by 2009 MAC Tournament Champion Kent State in the East, while Ohio was picked to finish third. Miami was selected to finish in fourth place, while Akron was tabbed to place fifth. Buffalo rounded out this year’s East Division predictions.
