2012 Mountain West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Six-time defending Mountain West champion TCU is the unanimous favorite to win its seventh consecutive regular season MW baseball title in 2012, according to a vote of the five MW head coaches. The Horned Frogs received all five first-place votes and 25 points overall. UNLV edged out New Mexico for second place with 16 points, while the Lobos picked up 15 points in third place. San Diego State was picked fourth (12 points), followed by Air Force in fifth (7 points). Continue reading

Coach Mike Kazlausky

Kazlausky makes transition to Air Force head coach

Greg Johnson of NCAA Champion Magazine recently had the chance to catch up with new Air Force head coach Mike Kazlausky. Kazlausky was named head coach of the Falcons just two days after he retired from active duty. The Air Force wasn’t something that Kazlausky had always had his mind set on, but as he explored the possibility he realized that the Air Force provided exactly the kind of challenge that he was looking for. Now he is looking to inspire kids who want the same kind of challenge that he was seeking out of high school. Continue reading


Big East looking to Expand

The Big East conference is looking to “aggressively pursue” expansion according to commissioner John Marinatto after a five hour meeting with league presidents on Sunday. It was the first time that the league presidents have met since Pitt and Syracuse announced on September 16th that they will leave the Big East to the ACC.  Continue reading

Big 12 Weekend Preview

The Big 12 opens the week with a promising schedule. Texas Tech hosts a tournament, while Nebraska and Missouri are both participating in tournaments away from home. No. 6 Texas plays host to Maryland, with No. 5 Oklahoma playing host to William and Mary. Most of the other match-ups favor the Big 12 teams, including no. 32 Baylor/Oral Roberts, no. 16 Texas A&M/LeMoyne, Oklahoma State/Bryant and Kansas State/Pacific. Unfortunately, Kansas travels to Fort Worth to take on no. 3 TCU, which won’t be good for the early season record.

2011 Mountain West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Five-time defending Mountain West Conference champion TCU is the unanimous favorite to win its sixth consecutive regular season MWC baseball title in 2011, according to a vote of the seven MWC head coaches and a selected media panel. The Horned Frogs received all 16 first-place votes and 112 points overall, while BYU garnered 84 points to finish second in the poll. San Diego State collected 75 points for a third-place ranking in the poll, while New Mexico was fourth (71 points). Rounding out the poll were UNLV in fifth (45 points), Utah in sixth (43 points) and Air Force in seventh (18 points). Continue reading


2011 CBD Season Preview: Mountain West

The Mountain West Conference was dominated by TCU last season as the Horned Frogs went 21-5 to win the conference by four games over New Mexico, who went 14-8. San Diego State finished third, with a 13-11 record. BYU finished in fourth place at 12-12, while UNLV finished in fifth place with a 11-13 record. Utah finished sixth at 10-13, with Air Force struggling mightily as they finished 3-20.  Continue reading


Mark Crocco added to Air Force Coaching Staff

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Mark Crocco was named assistant coach today by Air Force baseball head coach Maj. Mike Kazlausky. Crocco comes to the Academy from Wingate University, where he was an Assistant Coach.

Crocco spent the last spent the last two seasons assistant baseball coach working with the Bulldog hitters and infielders and was the head coach of the developmental team. Crocco is a 2010 graduate of Wingate, where he was a four-year letterwinner (2005-08). Continue reading
