It was announced on Saturday morning that Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor has been suspended for the next four games of the season. Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team will wear specially-designed jerseys at the 2015 Red Sox exhibition game on March 3 to honor former captain and director of baseball operations Pete Frates. The jerseys are replicas of the one worn by Frates in 2007, during his senior captaincy. All the players will don Frates’ last name and number 3 in his honor. The Tallahassee Democrat is reporting that the Florida State Seminoles are considering the addition of beer sales to the stadium this season. The University and their concession supplier Aramark could approve the idea in the coming future and beer be available by the end of the season. The ACC went 10-4 on opening day against non conference opponents. (Duke is still in progress and Notre Dame played a double-header) All of the top 25 nationally ranked teams in the ACC secured victories, the only team ranked in the top 30 to lose in the ACC was Clemson (27).

The University of Virginia, preseason ranked nationally at number 2, has been selected as the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball preseason favorite by the leagues 14 head coaches. Virginia, for the second year in a row has been slated as the team to beat in the ACC with 10 first-place votes followed by Florida State with 4 first-place votes. In a conference that hosts 5 of the top 25 teams in the nation one thing is for sure and that is competitive baseball in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
