The ACC enters the final weekend of the season with a couple of important weekend matchups. The biggest series of the weekend is between #2 ranked Virginia and #13 ranked Miami in Coral Gables as both schools are battling with Georgia Tech for the Coastal Division title. Georgia Tech will head to Boston College to finish out the Yellow Jackets season. The Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers will face off with FSU needing one victory to clinch the Atlantic Division title as the Tigers are three games back. The other key series sees the #17 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies heading down to Chapel Hill to take on the #26 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. If UNC loses the series, it will likely be on the outside looking in for the NCAA Tournament. The other two series see NC State hosting Duke and Maryland heading to Wake Forest. Continue reading
We enter the second to last week of ACC action with ten out of the 12 teams in action. (Boston College and Maryland are both off from conference play). The biggest series of the weekend features the Miami Hurricanes playing the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta as both teams look to make their final push for the Divisional title and a Regional Seed for the NCAA Tourney. The other big series is between the number 21 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels who are a bubble team for the NCAA Tourney taking on the number 2 ranked Virginia Cavs in Charlottesville. The other weekend action sees NC State visiting #8 Florida State, Duke going to #16 Virginia Tech and #19 Clemson going to Wake Forest.
The ACC has a relatively light schedule this week with only three in-conference series. The best series is between Florida State and Boston College. Florida State enters that series with a three game led over Clemson while having only a 3.5 game lead over Boston College. The other series with some importance is between Wake Forest and North Carolina. The Tar Heels are in need of a sweep this weekend if they are going to get a bid into the ACC Tournament. The last ACC series is between Clemson and Maryland where the Tigers are looking to sweep the Terps. Georgia Tech heads out of conference against a feisty Illinois-Chicago squad, Barry University visits Miami (FL) for two games and Savannah State will face off against Virginia Tech to round out the ACC weekend slate. The best series of the weekend sees Virginia Tech and Boston College battling for seeding position for the ACC Tournament. Florida State will play their out of conference series against LeMoyne while Clemson will host Florida Gulf Coast.
