ACC Weekend Preview (March 9th-11th)

The ACC opens up conference play with only one series featuring ranked squads with #6 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels heading north to play the 17th ranked Clemson Tigers. The other weekend series see the #8 ranked Florida State Seminoles heading to Duke, #9 ranked Georgia Tech heading to NC State, Boston College visiting #14 ranked Miami (FL), Virginia Tech going to #27 Virginia, and #30 ranked Maryland visiting Wake Forest. In preparation for this week’s ACC Baseball Tournament, College Baseball Daily takes a look at eight participants.

Team with something to prove – As the ACC Tournament opens Virginia is considered virtually a lock for a top-8 national seed. But following a sweep in Chapel Hill last week and an OK performance against Miami the previous weekend, there are some doubters. Virginia is 5-5 over its last 10 outings and over the last six have been outscored 23-13 dropping four of those contests. Continue reading

ACC Weekend Preview (May 19th-21st)

The ACC enters the tenth and final weekend of conference play this week. The Virginia Cavaliers lead the ACC Coastal Division by two games over second place Georgia Tech. UVA will visit North Carolina to try to wrap up the conference title while Georgia Tech visits Virginia Tech. The Atlantic Division is led by the Florida State Seminoles with a 18-9 conference record as they have a three game led over second place Clemson. The two squads will face off this weekend to determine the division winner. The other conference matchups see Duke visiting Miami (FL), NC State at Boston College, and Wake Forest at Maryland. ACC Weekend Preview (May 13th-15th)

The ACC enters their second to last weekend of action with two series matching up ranked squads with #24 Miami heading to #2 ranked Virginia and #11 North Carolina going to #15 Georgia Tech. The two other ranked teams in action are #7 Florida State at NC State and #13 ranked Clemson at Virginia Tech. The only ACC matchup between two unranked teams is Wake Forest at Duke. Boston College goes out of league play this week with a brief two game series starting on Saturday.  Continue reading

ACC Weekend Preview (May 6th-8th)

The ACC has a slow week with only four teams facing off in conference play as most of the teams are in the midst of finals. The two series are with North Carolina hosting Maryland and Boston College heading down to Wake Forest.

The out of conference series sees Central Florida visiting Florida State, Gardner-Webb and Clemson facing off in a home and home series, Georgia Tech heading on the road for a rare three game series at Illinois-Chicago, Miami (FL) hosting Hofstra, East Tennessee State at NC State, and James Madison at Virginia Tech. ACC Weekend Preview (April 29th-May 1st)

We start to wind down the 2011 ACC schedule this weekend with the Virginia Cavaliers leading the Coastal Division while Florida State leads the Atlantic. The Cavaliers have a lead of one game in the Coastal Division over Georgia Tech with a 18-3 conference record. Miami is in third place at 15-5 while North Carolina is fourth with a 13-8 record. Virginia Tech comes in fifth at 7-14 while Duke is 4-14 to round out the division. The Atlantic Division is being led by the Florida State Seminoles who are 14-7 which gives them a three game lead over second place Clemson who is 11-10. NC State is in third place at 9-12 while Wake Forest is fourth at 7-14. Boston College is fifth at 6-14 while Maryland rounds out the division at 4-17.  Continue reading

ACC Weekend Preview (April 22nd-24th)

The ACC enters the seventh weekend of conference play with the Florida State Seminoles continuing to lead the ACC Atlantic Division with a record of 11-7. Clemson is second at 9-9 while NC State is one game behind the Tigers at 8-10. Boston College is fourth at 6-11 with Wake Forest (6-12) and Maryland (4-14) rounding out the division. Continue reading
