2015 Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-American Team Released

TUCSON, Ariz. — The 2015 Louisville Slugger Pre-Season All-Americans feature a remarkable mix of talented NCAA Division I baseball players across the USA.

Kyler Murray and the Football-Baseball Debate

The fate of two-sport prep star Kyler Murray remains a toss-up at this point, and his story makes for an interesting sidelight as the upcoming college draft approaches. Murray, the top quarterback recruit according to ESPN 300, has verbally committed to play college football for Texas A&M, but is also being touted as a potential first-round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft. Collegiate Baseball releases Top 40 Recruiting Classes

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper released their Top 40 Recruiting Classes for the 2014-2015 season. Leading the way is the LSU Tigers with a stunning second place finish by the Wichita State Shockers. Tennessee junior outfielder Christin Stewart spent the summer of 2014 with the USA Collegiate National Team where he led the team with a .383 batting average while driving in 16 runs. Fullerton’s Phil Bickford leaves program

Rick-Vanderhook-is-not-happy-with-the-umpires-decision.-Photo-Shotgun-SpratlingAccording to a release from Cal State Fullerton baseball, RHP Phill Bickford has decided to leave the Titans program to continue his baseball career elsewhere. Bickford went 6-3 with a 2.13 ERA in 20 appearances including ten starts with Fullerton in the 2014 season. He spent the summer in the Cape Cod League with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox where he made 14 appearances (1 start) with a 1-1 record and an ERA of 2.25 while serving as the closer accumulating eight saves. 2014 NECBL All-Star Game Recap

NECBLLogo_thumb.jpgHOLYOKE, Mass. – In a fitting end for the battle between the best the NECBL has to offer, the North Division All-Stars celebrated a walk-off, 4-3 victory in front of 2,671 fans at Mackenzie Stadium, home of the host Valley Blue Sox.

The North started off the scoring in the first frame, as Laconia’s Vinny Zarillo led off with a single, reached third on an error, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Vermont’s Trey Amburgey. Continue reading 2014 NECBL All-Star Game Recap

2014 West Coast League All-Stars Released

WestCoastLeagueWest Coast League president Dennis Koho announced the league’s All-Star Game rosters this morning. The North squad – made up of Kelowna, Victoria, Bellingham, Walla Walla, Wenatchee and Yakima – will be managed by Ed Knaggs, the skipper of the Wenatchee AppleSox. The South team – compromised of Kitsap, Cowlitz, Corvallis, Bend, Medford and host Klamath Falls – will be coached by Gems’ manager Mitch Karraker.
