2014 Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll

big12logo_thumb.gifDefending Big 12 champion Kansas State has been selected as the coaches’ preseason favorite to repeat as the regular season title winner. In a vote by the league’s head coaches, the Wildcats, who have never been picked higher than fifth, garnered five first-place votes to top the 2014 preseason poll.

Only six points separate the first through fourth place teams in the poll with four different teams receiving a first-place vote for the first time in league history. Continue reading


2014 America East Preseason Coaches Poll

BinghamtonSlidingCAMBRIDGE, Mass. — For the first time in America East baseball history, two teams were selected as co-preseason favorites as Binghamton University and Stony Brook University tied atop the 2014 preseason coaches’ poll. Both teams received three first-place votes and 31 points in a vote of the league’s head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own team. Continue reading

2014 Big West Preseason Coaches Poll Released

BigWest_thumb.gifIrvine, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton was picked to win its fifth straight title in 2014, according to the nine conference coaches that voted in the Big West baseball preseason coaches poll.

The Titans earned eight first-place votes en route to a total of 73 points and was followed by Cal Poly, who grabbed 68 points. UC Santa Barbara locked the third slot with 60 points and UC Irvine, who collected the final first-place vote, ranked fourth after registering a 55-point total. Continue reading

2014 West Coast Preseason Conference Poll

West-Coast-Conference LogoSAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the seventh straight year, the University of San Diego has been selected to win the 2014 West Coast Conference baseball championship, in a preseason poll of the WCC’s 10 head coaches. The defending WCC Tournament Champion Toreros earned six of 10 possible first-place votes and 76 overall points in the poll.

Pepperdine University, the 2012 WCC Champions, earned 68 points and picked up one first place vote, while the University of San Francisco, a 2013 NCAA Regional participant, collected 66 points and a pair of first place votes in the annual survey. Continue reading

2014 Conference USA Coaches Poll

ConferenceUSALogoConference USA has announced its 2014 preseason baseball awards, as chosen by the league’s 13 head coaches. East Carolina senior utility player Drew Reynolds and FIU junior catcher Aramis Garcia were chosen as the co-preseason Players of the Year, while Rice junior right-hander Zech Lemond was named the preseason Pitcher of the Year. Rice was chosen as the favorite to win the league’s championship. The Owls have won either the regular season or tournament championship in each of its eight years as a member of C-USA. 2014 Missouri Valley Preseason Coaches Poll Released

MVC_thumb.jpgST. LOUIS – Wichita State, which returns its entire weekend pitching rotation and a wealth of depth from last year’s squad, has been tabbed as the league favorite in the annual coaches’ preseason poll, receiving six of eight first-place votes.

The Shockers tallied 56 points and were a slim favorite over second-place pick Missouri State (55 points), as the Bears tallied the two remaining first-place votes. Continue reading

2014 Atlantic Sun Preseason Coaches Poll and Team

A-SunLogoMACON, Ga. – Mercer enters the 2014 Atlantic Sun Baseball season as the favorite to take the conference crown as the Bears own seven first-place votes from the league coaches and landed five student-athletes on the preseason all-conference team.

Mercer’s Chesny Young was tabbed the A-Sun Preseason Player of the Year after winning the title last year, while his teammate Michael Massi, a second basemen, was selected as the league’s top defensive player. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Liberty and Coastal Carolina have been chosen as the favorites for the second-straight year in the Big South Conference’s annual preseason baseball poll for the 2014 season in a vote of the League’s Head Coaches, the League announced today. In addition, the coaches voted Charleston Southern’s Bobby Ison the Conference’s Preseason Player of the Year, while Ryan Thompson of Campbell was named the Big South Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
