Gainesville, Fla. – Long Beach State’s Michael Hill gave the Dirtbags a crucial advantage against North Carolina, hitting a sixth-inning home run to give Long Beach State a 5-4 lead in a rain-marred contest that was suspended in the 7th inning. GAINESVILLE, Fla. — North Carolina scored all five of its runs in the third inning after a lengthy rain delay and the third-seeded Tar Heels held on to eliminate No. 2 national seed Florida 5-2 Saturday at McKethan Stadium. Gainesville, Fla. – Andrew Rohrbachturned away both the heat and the Tar Heels in a masterful performance, pitching 8.1 innings and allowing just one run as the Dirtbags opened up the 2014 postseason with a 6-1 win over North Carolina.

- Florida is making its 30th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, including its seventh straight under coach Kevin O’Sullivan.
- Long Beach State is making its 20th NCAA Tournament trip, but first since 2008.
- North Carolina is making its 29th NCAA Tournament appearance.
- College of Charleston is in the tournament for the sixth time, including the second as an automatic qualifier.
