2014 CBD Journal with Ty Zupcic (April 25th)

zupcicjournalHello College Baseball Fans,

I want to start out this blog by talking about this week’s one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing and all the people who were affected by it. Having lived in Boston while my dad was playing with the Red Sox, I learned what a special city it really is. The way that the people rallied around each other to help make the anniversary a way of thanking all the heroes and celebrating the lives of those we lost is something that will be remembered in the city forever. I personally want to thank each individual person who had an impact in bringing the city together and making the anniversary something people will never forget. CBD JOURNAL WITH APPALACHIAN STATE’S TY ZUPCIC (April 9th)

zupcicjournalWhen it comes to being an athlete, there is one constant in nearly every sport — having teammates you spend almost every waking moment with. With most, you develop relationships that will last a lifetime and are people you can always look for when you need help the most. That is exactly the case when it comes to my teammates on the Appalachian State baseball team. A group of 35-plus guys who come to the park every day ready to back each other up until the very end. This season has had its tales of ups and downs and in the sport of baseball that’s to be expected. In my opinion, there is no harder sport to succeed at day in and day out. CBD Journal with Appalachian State’s Ty Zupcic (March 18th)

zupcicjournalHello College Baseball Fans,

When College Baseball Daily gave me the opportunity to write a blog for their website, I wanted it to be an inside look at what it’s like to be a college baseball player. I hope that my readers have enjoyed my blogs to date. It has been a blast being able to write about what I love to do most. 2014 CBD Journal with Ty Zupcic (March 4th)

zupcicjournalHello College Baseball Fans,

There is nothing like the start of college baseball season and these first two weeks of the season have already been an experience. Appalachian State is located in the mountains of western North Carolina, which means we are still experiencing every bit of the winter weather. That causes us to have to play a majority of our early-season games on the road much like schools located up north. It seems as if we have been on a bus for weeks with our first 11 games having been away from home. It has been a grind and we as a team are still trying to find our way, but we are fighting hard and have stuck together through all the trials and frustrations. We trust in our preparation and trust in the guys around us and we are so close to fully realizing what this team can be. We believe in each other, know the talent that we possess as a team and are competing to win in all three phases of the game (pitching, hitting and defense). 2014 CBD Journal with Ty Zupcic (Feb. 18th)

zupcicjournalHello College Baseball Fans,

I want to start my first in-season blog by talking about what a great atmosphere playing at the University of Arkansas was. Playing at different SEC parks is always an experience and UA was no different. We faced a high-quality team this weekend that had a front-line pitching staff and took advantage of timely hitting. One thing I will take away from the experience was how well most of the fans treated us throughout the weekend. When you have fans right on top of you in the outfield like that you never know what you are going to get, but they were classy and had some pretty clever things to say, especially the fans out in left field where I was playing. If any of you who were in attendance are readers of the site, I want to say thanks for making this weekend fun and allowing me to play along with all the heckling you guys threw my way. 2014 CBD Journal with Tyler Zupcic (Feb. 11th)

zupcicjournalHello College Baseball Fans,

We’ve made it. Game week is finally here and my teammates and I couldn’t be more excited. In only a few days we will boarding a plane and heading to Fayetteville, Ark. to take on the University of Arkansas to open up the 2014 college baseball season. After an offseason where most of the talk consisted of our tough out-of-conference schedule, we are ready for the challenges that we will face throughout the season. 2014 CBD Journal with Appalachian State’s Ty Zupcic (January 17th)

zupcicjournalHello College Baseball Fans,

There isn’t much to do on a 13-hour car ride back to the mountains of North Carolina. There’s nothing but open road and darkness to trigger deep thoughts and contemplation. It’s times like these when the thoughts we’ve constantly suppressed to the back of our minds seem to surface. Thirteen hours and nothing to do but think, which is something I’ve had a lot of time to do over the past 19 months. 2014 CBD Journal with Appalachian State’s Ty Zupcic (December 12th)

zupcicjournalThe first week of December always means the same thing in college – crunch time. It’s that time of the year where everything you have learned for the entire semester comes down to final exams – or if you’re a journalism major like me, final stories – and you see just how well you can handle pressure. zupcicjournalHello College Baseball Fans,

A few weeks ago we held our annual Black vs. Gold World Series here at Appalachian that marked the end to our fall season. The Black team made a statement with a 3-0 sweep of the Gold team, led by World Series MVP, sophomore shortstop Dillon Dobson. You baseball fans are going to want to remember that name because you are going to be hearing it for a long time. Continue reading 2014 CBD Journal with Appalachian State’s Ty Zupcic (November 12th)

2014 CBD Journal with Appalachian State’s Ty Zupcic (Oct. 3rd)

zupcicjournalHello college baseball fans. Let me start my first blog by giving you a little background information on myself. My name is Ty Zupcic, and I am a redshirt senior outfielder on the Appalachian State University baseball team. Yes, the school that beat Michigan a few years back on the football field. I am majoring in journalism with a minor in leadership studies and plan on graduating next spring. Baseball has been a part of my life ever since I was born. I was fortunate enough to grow up with my father, Bob Zupcic, playing Major League Baseball player for the Boston Red Sox in the early 1990s.
