NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Georgia Tech rallied from a run down in the ninth, scoring four times as the Yellow Jackets stayed alive in the Nashville Regional with a 6-3 win over Illinois Sunday afternoon. NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Senior RHP Buck Farmer was in complete command of East Tennessee State, but it was a nearly two hour lightning delay in the seventh inning that knocked him from the game as Georgia Tech staved off elimination Saturday at Hawkins Field with a 5-1 win over the Buccaneers in the Nashville Regional.
The second-seeded Yellow Jackets built a 5-0 lead for Farmer when the inclement weather moved in, and Jonathan Roberts fired three effective innings after the break to finish off the victory and keep his team alive. Continue reading
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Illinois held off a late rally by Georgia Tech and the Yellow Jackets brought the winning run to the plate in the ninth inning but could not complete the comeback as the Illini won the opener of the NCAA Nashville Regional, 6-4, Friday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn.
Daniel Palka was 3-for-5 with a triple, an RBI, scored twice and also pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief for the second-seeded Jackets, who slipped to 34-26 and drop to the losers’ bracket in the Nashville Regional. Tech faces the loser of Friday night’s Vanderbilt/East Tennessee State game in an elimination game at 3 p.m. ET Saturday. Illinois, the third-seed, improved to 35-18. Continue reading
There’s talent galore in Nashville. As a matter of fact, 20% of the Golden Spikes Award semifinalists will lead their teams in the Nashville Regional hosted by Vanderbilt. You will be hard pressed to find a better group of frontline starters than those packed together in this regional. Kevin Ziomek, Tyler Beede, Buck Farmer, Kevin Duchene, and Kerry Roane will all do their best to make Nashville a low-scoring affair while the likes of Tony Kemp, Daniel Palka, Zane Evans, Justin Parr, and Clinton Freeman know that a great offense is key to a memorable postseason run.
