CBD Mid-Major Poll (May 20th)

MidMajorLogo2012Louisville (46-10 overall; 4-0 week; RPI#13) ends the regular season as the clear #1 ranked mid-major. The Cardinals have the longest current win streak in the country at 16 games including a 6-3 win at Ohio St Tuesday and 3 more in series sweep of Pittsburgh (5-2 Thursday, 12-4 Friday, 7-4 Saturday). CBD Mid-Major Poll (May 13th)

MidMajorLogo2012Louisville (42-10 overall; 5-0 week) slides back into the top spot after a perfect 5-0 week and have won 12 in a row. The Cardinals opened the week with 4-0 win at Eastern Kentucky Tuesday and a 4-3 win over Indiana Wednesday. MidMajorLogo2012Congratulations to Columbia (26-19) who earned the first NCAA bid of 2013 upsetting Dartmouth in the Ivy League Championship Series Saturday sweeping the doubleheader winning 6-5 and 12-5.

#1 Mercer (36-12 overall; 0-0 week) had the week off for finals and remains in the top spot……..Louisville (37-10 overall; 4-0 week) stays at #2 with 4 wins to extend their win streak to 7 games. 18 of 25 ranked teams had winning records in week 11.

Mercer (36-12 overall; 4-1 week)-Mercer stays at #1 after sweeping Atlantic Sun series at SC-Upstate by the scores 7-3, 12-5 and 8-7. Mid-week the Bears split two games at Florida A&M losing 11-5 Tuesday and avoiding disaster Wednesday by scoring single runs in the top 8th and 9th and holding on for the 7-6 win………….Louisville (33-10 overall; 3-1 week) kept pace going 3-1 on week. The Cardinals lost 10-2 to Vanderbilt Tuesday and swept Georgetown in Big East play 2-1, 6-2 and 13-7. Read the rest of this entry »

MidMajorLogo2012The top 2 spots remain the same as both Indiana and Louisville go 3-1 on the week. #1 Indiana (25-4) extended their win streak to 18 games with a 9-5 win at Xavier Wednesday and winning the first 2 games vs Illinois. MidMajorLogo2012Indiana (22-3) takes over the #1 ranking with a 4-0 week and extended their nation leading win streak to 15 games. The Hoosiers picked up a big 6-2 win vs Louisville Wednesday and swept their series at Iowa to improve to 6-0 atop the Big 10…….Louisville (22-5) bounced back nicely after losing 2 of 3 at home to Rutgers last week as the Cardinals swept Notre Dame in Big East play moving up to #2.  Read the rest of this entry »

MidMajorLogo2012The North has risen as 2 northern schools rank #1 and #2. Notre Dame (14-6) takes over the top spot taking 2 of 3 from Seton Hall in their Big East opening series. The Irish dropped the series opener 4-3 on Friday but rebounded by sweeping both ends of doubleheader Saturday by the same 3-2 score……..Indiana (18-3) moves up to #2 riding an 11 game win streak including 5 wins in week 6. The Cardinals opened the week Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Purdue and ended the week with a 3 game sweep of Xavier by the scores of 6-1, 7-0 and 8-6. 2013 CBD Mid-Major Poll (March 11th)

MidMajorLogo2012For 2nd time in 3 weeks the lead story is a mid-major traveling to one of top programs in the country and not just winning a series but sweeping a series. In week 2 FGCU swept Florida in Gainesville and in week four UNLV (13-3) enter the rankings at #15 with an impressive 4-0 week. The Rebels have won 9 games in row including the last three this weekend at the Sunken Diamond. UNLV started the week with a 14-1 win vs Hawaii to finish their own tourney the Rebel Classic. Friday the Rebels capitalized on Stanford errors pushing across 2 runs in the 2nd, another in the top 5th and hung on for the 3-2 win despite another great game from Stanford’s Mark Appel (7.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 15 K). Saturday the Rebels pounded 15 hits in a 12-2 win and finished the sweep Sunday with a CG 2 hitter from So RHP John Richy (9.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K) in a 5-1 win.
