2011 NCBWA Top 30 Poll (March 7th)

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 14th year with its 2011 weekly surveys. Polls will be circulated from Feb. 21-June 28 following the 65th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., at the new TD Ameritade Stadium.

To date, TCU, UCLA and Florida have held the No. 1 NCBWA rankings in ’11. Continue reading


2011 NCBWA Division I Preseason Poll


DALLAS – TCU is No. 1 nationally for the first time in school history in the 2011 National Collegiate Baseball Writers poll.

Coach Jim Schlossnagle’s squad finished 54-14 a year and third in the university’s inaugural trip to the NCAA World Series after downing preseason No. 1 Texas in the 2010 NCAA Austin Super Regional. The 2010
NCBWA Coach of the Year welcome ’10 NCBWA Freshman of the Year and team ace (16-0 to lead the nation in wins) Matt Purke among a stellar cast of returnees. The Horned Frogs also gained a No. 1 rating in the pre-2011 Collegiate Baseball poll. Continue reading


2011 Baseball America Preseason Poll

Here is Baseball America’s 2011 Preseason Poll. The Florida Gators come in at number 1 after finishing last season with a 47-17 record and a 2010 ranking of seventh. UCLA who finished last season as the CWS runner-up comes in at number two with CWS semifinalist TCU coming in at number 3. Vanderbilt and Oklahoma round out the Top 5 respectively at 4th and 5th. 2011 Division 3 Preseason Poll by College Baseball Newspaper

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has released their 2011 Preseason Division 3 Poll. This year Heidelberg (OH) takes the top spot in the poll after going 42-8 last season where they appeared in the Division 3 College World Series. Coming in at number 2 is SUNY-Cortland who went 40-10-1 last season as they played in the Division 3 title game in 2010. The Top 5 is rounded out by Wisconsin-Stevens Point at number 3, Kean, NJ at number 4, and defending national champion Illinois Wesleyan checking in at number 5. 2011 Division 2 Preseason Poll by College Baseball Newspaper

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper recently released their 2011 Preseason Division 2 Baseball Poll. Leading the poll to start the season is 2010 defending national champion Southern Indiana who finished last season with a 52-14 overall record. UC-San Diego comes in at number 2 after going 54-8. Rounding out the top five is Central Missouri at number 3, Georgia College and St. at number 4, and perennial power Tampa checking in at number 5. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Releases 2011 Preseason Poll


TUCSON, Ariz. — Texas Christian University is ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s NCAA Division I pre-season baseball poll.

The Horned Frogs finished third at the College World Series last season and return a deep and experienced ball club for 2011. Seven position player starters are back along with three Louisville Slugger Pre-Season All-American starting pitchers in LHP Matt Purke (16-0, 3.02 ERA, 142 K, 34 BB), RHP Kyle Winkler (12-3, 3.39 ERA, 92 K, 36 BB), and RHP Steven Maxwell (11-2, 2.70 ERA, 93 K, 34 BB).
