Vanderbilt advances to CWS with a 9-3 victory over Oregon State

The Vanderbilt baseball team is headed to Omaha for its first College World Series appearance following a decisive 9-3 victory over Oregon State Saturday night at Hawkins Field.

The sixth seeded Commodores are the second team to qualify for the 2011 College World Series, and will face third seeded North Carolina on Saturday, June 18, at TD Ameritrade Park. Continue reading

2011 Nashville Super Regional Preview: Oregon State vs. Vanderbilt

Both teams have the lineups and intangibles to make noise if they were to get to Omaha, and the biggest downer is that only one will make it to the College World Series.

For Vanderbilt (50-10), the Super Regional concludes a week that saw twelve of their players drafted in the MLB Draft, including Sonny Gray and Grayson Garvin, who were selected in the first round. The goal for the Commodores will be keeping those distractions out of their mind as they face an Oregon State (41-17) team that has been one of Division I’s most successful in the post-season since 2006.
