Army releases 2010 Schedule


MattFouchArmy WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army head coach Joe Sottolano views the non-league portion of his team’s schedule each year as important training ground for the Patriot League wars that await his team later in the spring.

That’s one of the reasons Sottolano annually builds one of the toughest non-league slate of games in the conference and one of the driving forces behind his team’s dramatic improvement throughout the course of each season.

Based on this year’s schedule, which was released on Friday, the 2010 season should follow that same formula.

South Florida releases 2010 Schedule


SouthFlorida2010Schedule TAMPA – University of South Florida head coach Lelo Prado announced the release of the 2010 USF baseball schedule, a slate that includes five 2009 NCAA Tournament participants (11 games) and seven in-state opponents.

Prado also announced that, the Bulls will play a portion of their home schedule away from Red McEwen Field at George Steinbrenner Field and the University of Tampa Baseball Stadium to accommodate the construction set to begin in early April.

Albany releases 2010 Schedule


AlbanyBaseball Albany, N.Y. – Vice President and Director of Athletics Lee McElroy announced the 2010 University at Albany baseball schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The Great Danes, who returned to the America East Conference Championship last season after winning the league title in 2007, will compete in a tournament at Coastal Carolina and make a six-game trip to California to highlight the non-conference schedule. UAlbany will also play an America East Conference schedule against five league opponents.

Florida Gulf Coast releases 2010 Schedule


FGCUTEAMPIC FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University baseball head coach Dave Tollett released the Eagles 2010 schedule on Friday and it includes 27 games at Swanson Stadium, 11 games against BCS Conference schools and 15 games against NCAA Regional teams, two of which advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals last season.

The Eagles enter their third year as a member of Division I, and have already claimed two A-Sun regular season titles. This season, the 38th ranked Eagles will be eligible for postseason play for the first time in the program’s history. The Eagles look to defend their back-to-back A-Sun regular season titles as they welcome 13 newcomers to a squad that returns seven position starters and four starting pitchers.

UNC Asheville releases 2010 Schedule


AustinGraham ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Fourteen games at McCormick Field, a game at Tennessee plus a first-time meeting with Mars Hill highlights the 2010 UNC Asheville baseball schedule that was announced by first-year Bulldog coach Tom Smith on Friday.

"Our schedule will be tough but it a schedule that I think we can be competitive with," commented Smith. "We’re excited about playing 14 games at McCormick Field and can’t thank the city of Asheville, and the Asheville Tourists enough for allowing us to play down there."

East Tennessee State releases 2010 Schedule


ETSUPhoto JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Road trips to Charleston, S.C.and Eugene, Ore., in addition to 30 home contests are all on tap for the 2010 ETSU baseball team, as head coach Tony Skole and his staff released their schedule Monday afternoon.

“We are excited for the upcoming season,” Skole said. “We have made a lot of great progress this fall and winter.  Although we are still very young with only one senior, we have a lot of experience in our youth.   We return a strong nucleus and have many new players that we will be relying upon to have an immediate impact."

Stony Brook releases 2010 Schedule


ChadMarshallStonyBrook Stony Brook, N.Y. – Contests against three 2009 NCAA Tournament participants including Alabama highlight the 2010 schedule for the Stony Brook University baseball team, as released on Tuesday by head coach Matt Senk.

Stony Brook opens the season with a neutral site game at UNC Wilmington against Akron on Friday, March 5. The Seawolves play UNCW the next day before playing both Akron and UNCW on March 7.

Xavier releases 2010 Schedule


ScottGooginsXavier CINCINNATI – Xavier University baseball head coach Scott Googins has announced the 2010 schedule, a slate that includes early season trips to Tennessee (Feb. 19-21), Georgia Tech (Feb. 26-28), Duke (Mar. 3) and Wake Forest (Mar. 5-7). The Musketeers will face six teams that made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2009, including Super Regional participant Louisville on March 16.

"We are really excited about the non-conference schedule that includes several teams with well known tradition," commented Googins. "The guys are looking forward to playing at several great venues this season and those non-conference teams will prepare us for our conference play. We’re excited about the atmosphere of where we’ll be playing, against teams in the ACC, SEC and Big XII, all good baseball conferences and good teams in those conferences."
