NCBWA Division 1 Poll (Feb. 22nd)

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 13th year with its 2010 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will be circulated from Feb. 22-June 29 following the 64th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., and final CWS competition at historic Rosenblatt Stadium.

The poll voters come from 40 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. This week’s poll has representation by 11 different conferences among the 302 baseball-playing schools in the 2010 NCAA Division I ranks, and there have been 12 circuits in the initial surveys this season. NCBWA Division 2 National and Regional Polls

The NCBWA has put out their 2010 Division 2 Preseason National Poll and Regional Polls. Emporia State out of Kansas comes in at the top spot in the country with Southern Arkansas coming in at number two. USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll

USAToday USA Today/ESPN finish the Preseason rankings today with as they release their Top 25 which is led by Texas coming in at number 1 receiving 18 out of 31 first place votes. Texas finished last season with a second place finish in the College World Series. LSU defeated the Longhorns in the College World Series to bring home the title and come in at number 2 in the poll. 2010 Collegiate Baseball Top 40 Preseason Poll

BrandonWorkmanTexas TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Texas is the pre-season favorite to capture the 2010 College World Series, according to Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s Fabulous 40 NCAA Division I pre-season baseball poll.

The Longhorns, which finished second at the College World Series last year, are absolutely loaded with superb pitching, including three Louisville Slugger pre-season All-Americans in RHP Taylor Jungmann (11-3, 2.00 ERA, 101 K, 35 BB), RHP Chance Ruffin (10-2, 115 K, 25 BB) and RHP Cole Green (5-3, 3.34 ERA, 85 K, 34 BB, who is expected to be drafted in the first three rounds of next June’s Free Agent Draft).
