Live Stats for Day 3 of the CWS

LSUTEAMThe third day of the College World Series will feature an elimination game between Virginia and Cal-State Fullerton at 2pm eastern time. The two teams faced off last year in the Fullerton Regional which was eventual won by the Titans. The second game of the evening will face two SEC rivals with LSU and Arkansas fourth time this season. LSU took two out of three games in Fayetteville. CWS Game 4: Texas 6 Southern Miss 5

The Texas Longhorns and Southern Miss Golden Eagles faced off in the nightcap on Sunday evening. Texas entered the game with a 46-14-1 record while Southern Miss entered with a 40-24 mark. The Longhorns sent Sophomore RHP Cole Green to the hill with his 5-3 record in 18 appearances (17 starts) while compiling an ERA of 3.02. Southern Miss started Todd McInnis who won the 2009 C-USA Pitcher of the Year award. He is 9-4 with a 3.61 ERA in 18 appearances (17 starts). Continue reading

CWS Game 3: ASU 5 UNC 2

JoshSpenceASUAManThe Arizona State Sun Devils took on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the opening game of the second day of action at the College World Series. Arizona State enters the game with a 49-12 record while North Carolina has a 47-16 record. ASU sent LHP and Australian native Josh Spence to the hill as he sported a 9-1 record with a 2.33 ERA. Spence was selected in the third round (110 overall) by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. UNC countered with RHP Alex White who was 8-4 record and a 4.13 ERA. White was selected in the first round (15th overall) by the Cleveland Indians. Continue reading

CWS Journal with Brian Foley (Day 2)

The College Baseball Blog started out Day 2 of our trip to the College World Series with a nice continental breakfast at the hotel before making the trip over to Rosenblatt Stadium. Once we got to the stadium, we headed up to see some of the sites of the area with all the crazy college baseball fans around the country. I had never seen people tailgaiting at a College Baseball game too often before and let me tell you that the LSU fans really like to tailgate. Continue reading

The LSU Tigers took on the Virginia Cavaliers in the second game of the College World Series. The Tigers entered the game with a 51-16 record while Virginia has a 48-13-1 record. Virginia sent freshman LHP Danny Hultzen to the mound as he sports a 9-1 record with a 2.09 ERA while LSU countered with Sophomore RHP Anthony Ranaudo is 10-3 with a 2.95 ERA. Continue reading

CWS Game 1: Arkansas 10 Cal-State Fullerton 6

Wilkins after his big HRThe opening game of the College World Series featured the Arkansas Razorbacks taking on the Cal-State Fullerton Titans. Arkansas entered the game with a 39-22 record while the Titans of Cal-State Fullerton had a 47-14 record. Arkansas started junior lefty Dallas Keuchel who had a 7-3 record with a 4.04 ERA in 16 starts. Cal-State Fullerton countered with freshman Noe Ramirez who is 9-1 with a 2.86 ERA in 19 appearances including 14 starts. Continue reading
