CBD Top 100 Countdown: 63. Sam Travis (Indiana)

In his sophomore campaign with the Hoosiers, Travis started all 65 games in a tough Big Ten schedule. During the 2013 season the 6’0” infielder batted an impressive .316 and ranked second in the Big Ten with 22 doubles, 57 RBI, 10 homeruns, 133 total bases and 39 walks. Travis earned a Second Team All-Big Ten selection and helped lead the Hoosiers to their first College World Series appearance in program history. Gamecock’s Greiner learns from Team USA

greinerSouth Carolina catcher Grayson Greiner returns home after a 43-day stint playing for Team USA this summer. Greiner, a junior for the Gamecocks, was one of the 23 players from across the country who were chosen to play for the summer team, and says that he feels like his experience with Team USA left a lasting impression on him. “It helped me elevate my game and realize I belong a little bit,” Greiner said in an interview with TheBigSpur. Greiner also said that he thinks that the experiences he had this summer will help him “take more of a leadership role next season.” Team USA compiled a record of 20-3, with all three losses coming against Japan. For the first time, Team USA swept Cuba in a best of five series.

CNT: Bregman leads Team USA to 3-2 win Team USA rallies from 2-0 deficit

USABASEBALL_thumb.jpgCARY, N.C. – Trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning, LSU’s Alex Bregman keyed a three-run inning to help the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team to a 3-2 victory over Cuba Monday night at the National Training Complex. Each of the four contests has featured a one-run victory for Team USA.

Japan defeats Team USA 7-3 to take series

USABASEBALL_thumb.jpgTOKYO – A two-run fourth inning for Japan broke a 3-3 tie and gave Japan a lead it would never relinquish on the way to a 7-3 win in the decisive fifth game of the 39th edition of the USA-Japan International Collegiate Friendly Series.
