USA Baseball names Arkansas Head Coach Dave Van Horn 2014 Collegiate National Team Manager

DaveVanHornArkansasArkansas baseball head coach Dave Van Horn has been selected as manager for the 2014 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, as announced on Monday by USA Baseball.

“I couldn’t be more excited and honored to be selected as manager for the 2014 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team,” Coach Van Horn said. “Anytime you have the opportunity to wear the Team USA jersey, it’s an honor and a privilege. Tennessee’s Serrano and Godley Reflect on Summer

Dave Serrano wanted to one day become the head coach of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, but he didn’t think it would happen as soon as it did.

“I was very humbled and very proud to be selected,” Serrano said. “I had been the assistant in 2010 and I knew there’s a process to that. You have to be the assistant before you can be the head coach. I didn’t know that it would happen so quickly.” Continue reading

TCU’s Jim Schlossnagle named 2013 USA Collegiate Team Manager

DURHAM, N.C. — USA Baseball announced Thursday the naming of Jim Schlossnagle as manager of the 2013 Collegiate National Team. The Texas Christian University (TCU) head coach will be making his managerial debut for Team USA. He previously wore the red, white and blue as pitching coach of the 2006 Collegiate team. USA Baseball defeats Chinese Taipei 2-0

HAARLEM — It took eight innings, but the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team finally got to Chinese Taipei starting pitcher Chun Lin Kuo.

After the two teams traded zeroes for seven innings, Kyle Farmer (Georgia) and Johnny Field (Arizona) broke a scoreless tie with RBI doubles in the bottom of the eighth as Team USA shut out Chinese Taipei, 2-0, on a cold, rainy Wednesday afternoon at Pim Mulier Stadium. Continue reading
