Mississippi Valley State’s Doug Shanks Retires

ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University has officially announced the retirement of head baseball coach Doug Shanks.

Shanks, who replaced longtime head coach Cleotha Wilson in 2000, served in his capacity for 14 seasons, winning more than 250 games while leading the Delta Devils to five SWAC Eastern Division championships. 2014 Lafayette Regional: Day 3 Recap

LAFAYETTE, La. – Junior Jace Conrad had a career-best six RBI as the top-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team defeated Jackson State 11-1 on Sunday afternoon to advance to the Lafayette Regional championship game at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.

The Cajuns (55-8) will face Mississippi State in the championship game at 8 p.m. Louisiana needs to defeat the Bulldogs twice to advance to the Super Regionals, while Mississippi State needs to win just one game.

2014 Lafayette Regional: Day 2 Recap

LAFAYETTE, La. – The top-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team bounced back from a tough loss yesterday to roll to 9-2 win over San Diego State in an elimination game on Saturday at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field in the Lafayette Regional.

Louisiana moves to 54-8 overall with the win and will face the loser of the Jackson State/Mississippi State winner’s bracket game tomorrow at 1 p.m. in another elimination game at “the Tigue”. SDSU closes out their season with a 42-21 record. Continue reading 2014 Lafayette Regional: Day 2 Recap

LAFAYETTE, La. – Mississippi State’s pitching took center stage Friday in the opening round of the Lafayette Regional.

Jackson State baseball bus catches on Fire

According to the Clarion Ledger, both Ole Miss and Mississippi State have pledged to donate balls and bats to Jackson State.  You can check out that article by clicking here.

The Jackson State baseball team bus caught on fire today as the team was traveling to Savannah State to play a game on Tuesday. The team lost all of its equipment in the fire.
