North Shore Navigators Move To Futures League

UPDATED  - The North Shore Navigators will have a new owner, general manager and league when they begin the 2012 summer season.

The Futures Collegiate Baseball League announced Wednesday that not only would the Lynn, Massachusetts summer league team move to the league, but that they would do so under new ownership. They made the announcement via a tweet:

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We conclude the countdown today at number 1 with Stanford RHP Mark Appel. The San Ramon, California native attended Monte Vista High School. He was a two year letterwinner where as a senior he appeared in nine games with an ERA of 0.90 ERA in 31.0 innings. He gave up just 21 hits, striking out 45 and walking just six over five starts while going 4-0 with three saves. He was picked in the 15th round by the Detroit Tigers but decided to head to Stanford. College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 13 with Stanford junior infielder Kenny Diekroeger. The Woodside, California native attended The Menlo School where he was a four year letterwinner. As a senior, he hit .586 over 18 games with 20 RBIs, 10 doubles, three triples and four homers over 58 at-bats before having his season cut short with a knee injury. He was named a prep first-team All-American by Baseball America, all-state, all-county, and league MVP honors. The Tampa Bay Rays picked him in the second round but were not able to come to an agreement so he decided to head to Stanford to continue his education. Read the rest of this entry »

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 22 with Virginia junior RHP Branden Kline. The Frederick, Maryland native attended Governor Thomas Johnson High School. As a senior, he had 0.51 ERA in 41 innings while striking out 79 while walking 12. He picked up several honors including being named First-Team All-State, All-Metro, Monocacy Valley Athletics Conference Pitcher of the Year and Frederick County Player of the Year. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox but decided to head to Virginia to continue his baseball career. Read the rest of this entry »

We continue the countdown today at number 31 with St. John’s junior outfielder Jeremy Baltz. The Vestal, NY native attended the local Vestal High School where he was a four-time New York State scholar-athlete. He earned a total of three letters in baseball while helping the Golden Bears win three straight sectional titles and two conference championships. He was a two-time all-division selection while being named all-conference as a senior. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 45th round in the 2009 MLB Draft but decided to attend St. John’s. Mystic out of the NECBL?

The Mystic Schooners of the NECBL moved before last season from Bristol CT to Fitch High School in Groton Connecticut. The team struggled in their first season at Fitch High School going 18-24 and missing the playoffs but the real issues with the squad have come during this offseason.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hello everyone! It’s been a while. I’m back blogging for my second year. I guess people were shocked that I could put together a coherent sentence, so here I am back at it. For those of you who did not read my blog last season (I’m sure that’s the majority of people) let me introduce myself. My name is Ray Ricker and this is my 5th season as the Associate Head Baseball Coach at DII Post University in Connecticut, which plays in an ALL wood bat conference (C.A.C.C.) I have managed for the past three summers in the N.E.C.B.L. I coach the hitters, catchers, and handle the recruiting at Post University. He was a member of three county championship teams while leading the team as a senior to a 33-0 record and a state championship.
