Top 100 Countdown: 44. Adam Brett Walker (Jacksonville)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 44 with Jacksonville junior outfielder Adam Brett Walker. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School where he was a three year starter. His senior season saw him named all-state, all-area and all-conference. His junior season saw him earn multiple awards also being named all-state, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel All-Area and first team all-conference after batting a school-record .569 (33-58) with eight home runs and a 1.121 slugging percentage. 2011 Baseball America Top Prospects for Summer Leagues and Team USA

DURHAM, N.C.–The Southeastern Conference, which has produced college baseball’s last three national champions, dominated Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 20 college summer leagues and Team USA, which have been released at BaseballAmerica.com. The SEC leads all conferences with 24 players on the lists, followed by the Pacific-12 (22 players), the Big 12 (18 players) and the Atlantic Coast (17). 2010 Baseball America Top Prospects for Summer Leagues and Team USA

BaseballAmericaCover DURHAM, N.C.–The Pacific-10 Conference dominated Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 18 summer college leagues and Team USA, which have been posted at BaseballAmerica.com. The Pac-10 leads all conferences with 30 players on the lists and six players ranking as the No. 1 prospects in their respective leagues.

Great Lakes League Players of the Week

GreatLakesLeagueLogo With summer league baseball a few weeks in, the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League is awarding this weeks’ top players. The GLSCL recognizes John McCambridge from the Licking County Settlers as player of the week, and Eric Vaughan from the Lake Erie Monarchs as pitcher of the week.

CBB Top 100 Countdown: Number 80 Ben Thomas (Xavier)

BenThomasHeadshot The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 80 in our countdown with Xavier junior two-way player Ben Thomas from Columbus Ohio where he attended Westerville Central High School. He played all four seasons of high school ball under Scott Walberry where he was named All-Ohio Capital Conference and First-Team All-District as a senior. Multiple scouting services named Thomas the top high school prospect in Ohio but decided to head to Xavier.

Baseball America releases Top Prospects Lists for Summer Leagues and Team USA

BaseballAmerica DURHAM, N.C.–Mississippi and Washington State lead all schools by placing five players apiece on Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 18 different summer college leagues and Team USA. Last summer, Louisiana State and Texas each led the nation with five players apiece on BA’s summer league lists, and those two teams wound up facing off for the national championship at the College World Series.

BA ranked the top 30 prospects for the talent-rich Cape Cod League, and the top 10 prospects in 17 other summer college leagues. In addition, the top 20 Team USA prospects were ranked.

Kent State’s Tyler Martin Injured

T.Martin Kent State’s Tyler Martin suffered a severe eye injury on Saturday afternoon as he was playing with the Stark County Terriers after a freak accident. Martin was walking near the on-deck circle where an errant bat struck him near one of his eyes. He was rushed immediately to a nearby hospital which put him under surgery to repair the damage. He is currently still in the hospital and I have not received any word if the incident will affect his vision. Read the rest of this entry »

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League is please to announce its award winners for Week Six of GLSCL action:

Pitcher of the Week:
Nick Montgomery – Lake Erie Monarchs, RHP, San Marcos, TX (Ranger Junior College)

Nick garnered a 2-0 record this week by virtue of pitching 15 innings with no earned runs. The San Marcos, TX native 11 strikeouts this week has propelled Lake Erie on its’ five-game winning streak. Montgomery’s 5-0 season record is tied for the best this year in the GLSCL.

Great Lakes League Player and Pitcher of the Week: Week 5

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League is please to announce its award winners for Week Five of GLSCL action:

Pitcher of the Week:


Tyler Wilson – Delaware Cows, RHP, Midlothian, VA (University of Virginia)

Tyler Wilson, a freshman from the University of Virginia, became the second Delaware Cow to be named pitcher of the week in the GLSCL. Tyler started two games this past week, shortened by the all-star break, earning the win in one game. The Midlothian, VA native threw a total of 12 innings in which he gave up no earned runs and struck out 14. Tyler extended his streak of scoreless innings to 18.

Player of the Week:

Ben Klafczynski – Columbus All-Americans, OF, Granger Twp., OH (Kent State Univ.)

Ben posted an impressive 0.545 batting average for the week which included two doubles and a home run. The Columbus outfielder also scored five runs with eight runs batted in. The Kent State Golden Flash finished the week with a 1.000 slugging percentage.
