USA Baseball defeats Florence 9-0

USABASEBALL_thumb.jpgFLORENCE, S.C. – Matt Chapman went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs to help the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team to a 9-0 victory Friday night. Four pitchers combined to throw Team USA’s third shutout of the CPL tour.

“Tonight’s game was almost as complete of a game as we’ve played all summer,” said manager Jim Schlossnagle (TCU). “I thought we had a lot of good at-bats, we had timely hits and outstanding base running. Matt Chapman sat back on a line drive with one out, setting up a two-out hit from Will Maddox. I thought A.J. Reed threw really well. USA Baseball defeats Wilmington 7-3

USA Baseball defeats Fayetteville 11-3

USABASEBALL_thumb.jpgFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A 17-hit night helped the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team stay perfect on the tour with an 11-3 win over Fayetteville Monday night. LSU’s Alex Bregman notched three hits in his tour debut and Indiana’s Kyle Schwarber had three RBIs.

USA Baseball defeats Morehead City 10-2

USABASEBALL.jpgMOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team exploded for a 10-2 victory over the Morehead City Marlins Sunday night. Four team members collected a pair of hits in the game, while Kentucky’s A.J. Reed paced the team with a pair of RBIs.

“I thought tonight was a really good win for us,” said manager Jim Schlossnagle (TCU). “Obviously, we swung the bats really well. They gave us a lot of free base runners, but there were a lot of quality at-bats throughout the game. We played a much crisper game defensively and I was really pleased with the way Tyler, Cole and Colin pitched. We looked much more like the Team USA that I want us to be in terms of how hard we played, our energy between innings and throwing the ball around the infield. 2012 Baseball America Top Prospects for Summer Leagues

DURHAM, N.C.–The Southeastern Conference once again dominated Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 20 college summer leagues and Team USA, which have been released at BaseballAmerica.com. The SEC leads all conferences with 31 players on the lists, followed by the Pacific-12 (24 players), the Atlantic Coast (16) and the Big 12 (13). Team USA defeats Morehead City 6-1
