College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 18 with redshirt sophomore outfielder Daniel Aldrich from the College of Charleston. He went to Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina where he player for coach Jeff Blankenship. As a senior, he hit.461 with 43 RBI while leading the state with 13 homers. He was a two-time All-State selection. Top 100 Countdown: 40. Chase McDonald (East Carolina)

We continue the countdown today at number 40 with East Carolina first baseman Chase McDonald. The 6’4 250 pound first baseman hails from Greenville, North Carolina and attended J.H. Rose High School. He was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Ronald Vincent. His senior season saw him hit 12 home runs and batting .510 for the Rampants on his way to team MVP and All-State honors. We continue the countdown today at number 49 with NC State junior RHP Chris Overman. The Charlotte, North Carolina native attended Myers Park High School. As a senior, he was named to The Charlotte Observer’s All-Mecklenburg team. He also brough the team to a Myers Park to a 19-9 record and the Southwestern 4-A Conference tournament championship, pitching a complete game in the tournament championship game. We continue the countdown today with number 97 junior Wake Forest LHP Brian Holmes. He is from Lawrenceville, Georgia and was a two year letterwinner at Mill Creek High School. We start off the countdown today at number 100 with Dartmouth senior shortstop Joe Sclafani from Palm City, Florida and attended Jensen Beach High School. He was a four year letter winner in baseball for Coach Todd Belowich. He helped lead the team as the starting shortstop to a 41-14 record as a junior and senior winning the District 14 title and the Regional runnerup in his final two seasons. DURHAM, N.C.–The Southeastern Conference, which has produced college baseball’s last three national champions, dominated Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 20 college summer leagues and Team USA, which have been released at BaseballAmerica.com. The SEC leads all conferences with 24 players on the lists, followed by the Pacific-12 (22 players), the Big 12 (18 players) and the Atlantic Coast (17). USA Collegiate National Team hammers Gastonia, 12-5

GASTONIA, N.C. – Michael Lorenzen (Cal State Fullerton) homered and drove in four to lead the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team to a 12-5 win over Gastonia Thursday night at Sims Legion Park.

Every player in the lineup – nine total — recorded at least one hit in the team’s win as the club tallied 15 overall and improved to 6-1 this summer. Thursday’s game marked the finale for Team USA against summer collegiate clubs with the two-game Prospect Classic against the 18U National Team scheduled to get underway Friday. We continue the countdown today at number 89 with Pratt Maynard of NC State. He is from Franklinton North Carolina and attended South Granville High School. He was a four-time all-state selection while as a senior hitting .351 with seven home runs, 26 runs scored and 29 RBIs and having a 7-2 record with a 0.90 ERA on the mound.

Top 100 Countdown: Number 97 Stewart Ijames (Louisville)

The CBB continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 97 with Louisville junior outfielder Stewart Ijames. He checks in at 6’1 and 201 pounds as he is from Owensboro Kentucky where he attended Owensboro Catholic. He was a five time letter winner at Owensboro Catholic being named All-State twice, All-Region and All-Area selection three times. He was named the state tournament MVP when the Aces won the 2005 state championship. During his senior season, he hit .542 with ten homers. The Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the 46th round of the 2007 MLB Draft but Stewart decided to head to Louisville to continue his baseball career.

Team USA defeats Fayetteville 8-3

CARY, N.C. – Sean Gilmartin (Florida State) fanned five and Jackie Bradley, Jr. (South Carolina) collected three hits as Team USA picked up its first win of the summer, 8-3, Tuesday night over the Fayetteville Swampdogs of the Coastal Plain League. The game was called after 8 innings due to lightning in the area.

Gilmartin (1-0) went five innings in the start allowing two runs (both unearned) and walking one. Brett Mooneyham (Stanford) gave up a run in two innings of relief work, while freshman Brian Johnson (Florida) worked the final inning.

Top 100 Countdown: Number 6 Kyle Roller (East Carolina)

The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 6 in our countdown with senior first baseman Kyle Roller from East Carolina. He is from Rockingham North Carolina and played high school baseball at Richmond Senior High School. As a senior, he batted .540 with five home runs, 30 RBI, stealing 14 bases and walking 30 times. He was named to the Mid-Southeastern All-Conference team as a sophomore, junior and senior. Impact Baseball rated him as the ninth-best prospect and sixth-best positional player in North Carolina.
