Brandon Belt drives Texas past Texas State

img_1931.jpgBrandon Belt was 3-4 and drove in 5 runs 3 of those came in the bottom of the first with a shot that went over the 375 foot sign in RCF. Brandon also pitch the 8th and 9th to close out the game and to give Texas the win against another Southland Conference foe. The top of the line up for Texas consisted of Danks, Tucker, and Preston Clark and they scored 7 of those runs.

Leading the way for the Bobcats was Johnathan Farrow as he was 2-4 with a HR and 3 RBIs. Continue reading

Texas 16 UTSA 5

img_1544.jpgRiley Boening worked his longest outing of the year after missing all of last year after having surgery on his shoulder. Boening works 4 2/3 on an inning but just misses out on getting the win. UTSA finally gets to Boening in the 5th for 3 runs and the staff knows that there in no needs to push him. Sophomore Sheldon McDonald threw eight shutout innings of five-hit, nine-strikeout ball and did not walk a batter, as he led the Huskies to a 5-0 win over the Western Michigan Broncos on Wednesday afternoon at IMG Academies in BRadenton, Fla. Western Michigan entered the game having scored at least 15 runs in three of its last five games, but McDonald kept the Bronco bats silent all afternoon. Continue reading

Texas 22 Texas A&M CC 3

Texas A&M CC allowed 17 walks and 16 hits and when the pitching staff does that a team will be able to score some runs. Texas puts up 22 on this staff today and 16 runs on them yesterday.

Brand Belt Soph went 4-6 at the plate and drove in 8 runs. The top of the lineup, Tucker, Torres and Danks scored 12 runs between them.

UTSA Tourney Preview

The University of Texas-San Antonio is hosting a great tournament on the opening weekend. Joining the Roadrunners this season is Army, Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas Tech, and Oral Roberts. The Red Raiders were a late addition to the tournament as Northern Illinois backed out of a three game set due to the tragedies on their campus last year. Continue reading
