ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomore right-hander Alex White went six strong innings, and second baseman Kyle Seager drove in a career-best three runs for the second straight day in No. 2 North Carolina’s 8-1 win over Kent State Friday at the Coca-Cola Classic at The Winthrop Ballpark. Virginia Tech 14 Davidson 10
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Sophomore Jay Honeycutt was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs for the Davidson baseball team, but Virginia Tech used a six-run eighth inning to post a 14-10 victory over the Wildcats at Wilson Field Wednesday afternoon.
Chase FitzPatrick was 3-for-6 with a double and two RBIs for Davidson (2-3), and Hugh Eden collected four hits and scored two runs. Brett Shore had three hits on the afternoon, while Danny Weiss had two, including a double. Continue reading

Old Dominion 8 UNC 6 (10 innings)
CARY, NC–Old Dominion University senior first baseman Brian Cipolla (Plainview, NY.) knocked in six runs to lead the Monarchs (1-1) to an 8-6 victory over second ranked North Carolina (3-1) Tuesday evening. This is the highest ranked team ODU has ever beaten.
North Carolina took a 5-4 lead into the top of the ninth. With two outs, in the ninth Cipolla hit his first homer of the season to right field to tie the game. After shutting down the Tar Heels in the bottom of the ninth, the Monarchs scored three runs in the top of the tenth. Continue reading
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will be taking their perfect 4-0 record to Mt. Pleasant S.C. to take on the College of Charleston in a showdown between undefeated squads. Coastal Carolina will send Cody Wheeler to the mound who has a 27.00 ERA in 2/3 of an inning. College of Charleston will send Jake Goldberg to the mound where he has no record with a 5.40 ERA in 1.2 innings.

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Boston College (2-1, 0-0 ACC) baseball team dropped the final game of a three-game series to Georgia Southern (1-2, 0-0 SoCon), 18-6, Sunday afternoon at J.I. Clements Stadium. The Boston College Eagles opened the 2008 season with a doubleheader sweep over Georgia Southern. In Game 1, BC won 11-7 and in game 2 the Eagles won 14-7
The Eagles were led in Game 1 by a strong freshmen class led by Marc Perdios who went 3-6 with a home run in his first collegiate at bat. Matt Hamlet hit a homer in the seventh inning to give the BC Eagles an 8-7 lead which they held on to for the victory. Garrett Smith was outstanding at shortstop defensively including several turns of double plays. He had a strong day at the plate as he went 3-5 with two runs scored. Continue reading
