The New Mexico State Aggies will host the New Orleans Privateers on Friday in the first game of a three game set. The Aggies are coming off a 22-34 season while going 6-18 in the WAC. New Orleans is coming off a Sun Belt championship which saw them participate in the Wichita State Regional where they went 1-2. The University of Texas-San Antonio is hosting a great tournament on the opening weekend. Joining the Roadrunners this season is Army, Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas Tech, and Oral Roberts. The UC-Irvine Anteaters will open the season at the University of Nevada. The Anteaters are coming into the season after going 47-17-1 and qualifying for the CWS after winning the Texas Regional and the Wichita State Super Regional. They will have a new coach in 2008 with Mike Gillespie taking over for Dave Serrano who left for Cal-State Fullerton. Nevada comes into the season coming off a 35-26 campaign while going 15-9 in the WAC which was good enough for second place in the conference.
