ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy baseball head coach Paul Kostacopoulos announced his team’s 2014 schedule on Thursday. A season-opening series at Florida A&M and the annual Freedom Classic in Kinston, N.C., highlight Navy’s non-conference schedule. WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fifty-two regular season games, including 21 at Doubleday Field at Johnson Stadium, highlight the 2014 Army baseball schedule, announced today by interim head coach Matt Reid.
The Black Knights won the 2013 Patriot League Championship Series and advanced to the NCAA Tournament and will begin their quest for another league title and national appearance on February 14 against William and Mary. Continue reading
The Army, Navy, and Air Force baseball programs have been forced to stop fall competitions with the federal government shutting down all intercollegiate activities at the service academies. This weekend’s football games between Navy and Air Force and the Army at Boston College are both unlikely to happen unless the government shutdown is resolved in the very near future.

Update #1: College Baseball Daily has learned that Joe Sottolano was let go for “sexual misconduct” according to several sources. It did not involve any current Army students.
College Baseball Daily has learned that Army has fired Joe Sottolano for a “pattern of behavior” according to a press release from the academy. Sottolano had been coaching at West Point since 1992 becoming the head coach in 2000. He has a career record of 391-286-5 in his 13 years as the head coach. Continue reading

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – Corey Dick and Matt Keeler collected three hits apiece and UNCW ended the game with a triple play as the Seahawks eliminated Army with a 9-5 win on Saturday at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional at Davenport Field.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 6 overall seed Virginia opened the 2013 NCAA Baseball Championship with a 2-1 win over Army on Friday (May 31) in the Charlottesville Regional before 3,826 fans at Davenport Field.
The Cavaliers (48-10) play the winner of tonight’s UNC Wilmington (37-21) and Elon (32-28) contest on Sat., June 1 at 6 p.m. Army (29-22) plays the loser of UNCW and Elon tomorrow at 1 p.m. Continue reading

The Army Black Knights continued their dominance of the Patriot League by sweeping the Holy Cross Crusaders on Sunday afternoon by scores of 9-4 and 5-4. The wins by the Black Knights give them their sixth Patriot League title under Joe Sottalano as they have now made the NCAA Tournament in back to back seasons for the first time since they completed the feat in the 2004 and 2005. He is being deployed over to the Middle East for another time, leaving his life at West Point – including his wife, his three children, his teaching position and his coaching position with the Black Knights’ pitchers and outfielders – on hold while he serves in Operation Enduring Freedom. For this week’s projections, instead of being solely compiled based on RPI like they have been done in past weeks, every aspect was taken into consideration.
