Oregon overcomes New Mexico State

Eugene, Ore. – Twentieth-ranked Oregon scored once in the seventh and again in the eighth inning on Thursday to overcome winless New Mexico State 3-1 in the Ducks home opener at PK Park.

It was the first of a four-game series between the Ducks (4-1) and Aggies (0-5).

Austin Grebeck, in the game as a pinch-hitter, scored the go-ahead run for the Ducks. Catcher Shaun Chase unloaded a solo homer past the scoreboard in left-center in the eighth for the final margin.

Goss Stadium makeover nearly finished


Corvallis, Ore. – Oregon State conducted a major makeover of Goss Stadium since the Summer Collegiate season ended, adding the Jacoby Elsbury Locker Room and a long viewing area along the third baseline.

Not part of the makeover are the decorative motifs near the many entrances to the park. Those have been up since 2008, according to assistant coach Andy Jenkins.  Continue reading Goss Stadium makeover nearly finished

2015 PAC-12 Preseason Coaches Poll

Pac12LogoSAN FRANCISCO – In a polling of the Pac-12’s baseball coaches, UCLA has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Conference title this season. The Bruins received six of 10 possible first-place votes and 96 points. UCLA, which missed the postseason last year, advanced to the College World Series in 2013 and won the National Championship. This season UCLA returns 19 players who were members of the 2013 National Championship team, including six starting position players and all four starting pitchers from last season. On the mound, UCLA will be led by pre-season All-Americans David Berg and James Kaprielian.
