UT-Arlington to Upgrade Baseball and Softball Facilities

DarinThomasUTArlingtonARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington softball and baseball players will have clubhouses and training facilities worthy of a world-class, collegiate program by January 2015 as a result of a $5.5 million softball/baseball complex expansion and renovation plan.

The project will add a softball field house to Allan Saxe Field, home of the UT Arlington softball team, and a field house to Clay Gould Ballpark, home of the baseball team. The work also will include field improvements and upgrades to the sound systems and bleachers at the complex, off Fielder Road and West Park Row in Arlington. Continue reading

Curtis Granderson pledges money for New Stadium at UIC

UIC_thumb.jpgCHICAGO – University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) alum and current New York Yankee centerfielder Curtis Granderson has pledged the funding for a new multi-million dollar baseball stadium on the campus of UIC. The facility will be home for Flames Baseball, but more importantly, is intended to serve area youth and the Chicago community. Partnerships with Major League Baseball (MLB), Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and various youth organizations will provide access to the aptly named “Curtis Granderson Stadium” for a multitude of events. Maine opens New Batting Facility

ORONO, Maine– The Paul J. Mitchell Batting Pavilion was officially dedicated in a ceremony at the University of Maine on Tuesday, August 21 in front of several hundred people. Construction, which began in May, was recently completed on the indoor batting facility which will be utilized by the Maine baseball team, softball team and the community. Continue reading

Missouri announces Facility Improvements

As announced today, a $30 million private gift from the Kansas City Sports Trust will help jump-start a $200 million master plan resulting in facility improvements seen as vital to MU’s future success in the SEC. Minnesota holds Groundbreaking Event for Renovations

A historic day for Golden Gopher baseball as the University of Minnesota Athletics department held a groundbreaking ceremony, today, June 11th, 2012, at Siebert Field. Approved by the University’s Board of Regents on Friday, Gopher baseball held a groundbreaking event in front of fans, donors and media members.

President Eric Kaler opened the ceremony, followed by Director of Athletics Joel Maturi. “I thank former players and the baseball community for being patient,” Maturi said. “It has not been easy. But it is now the beginning of a new era. Over these 20 years there has remained one constant, John Anderson. It is my hope that one day we play at Siebert Field, at Anderson Park.” Continue reading

New Mexico Breaks Ground at Lobo Field

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico broke ground on renovations at Lobo Field, Tuesday, in what was a great day for the future of Lobo baseball. With the entire current team, which features 12 players from the state, and many former players in attendance, the university began making improvements in what it hopes will be just the first of many phases of the renovation.
