Ryan Kelley has been named the ninth head coach in the 68-year history of the Wayne State University baseball program. The announcement was made today by WSU Director of Athletics Rob Fournier.
“I look forward to Ryan building on our successes in baseball,” noted Fournier. “The committee considered some outstanding candidates and there is no doubt that our program has risen in stature. In the end, Ryan’s familiarity with our system, his strong work habits and active role in building our program the last six years, was a significant factor. Cory Barton Hired as Assistant Baseball Coach at ULM
Cory Barton has been named assistant baseball coach at ULM, head coach Jeff Schexnaider announced on Tuesday. Barton’s hire is pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
John Pawlowski who is entering his first season in charge of the Auburn Tigers after nine successful seasons with the College of Charleston. He went 338-192-1 in his nine seasons in charge of the Cougars bringing them to the NCAA Tournament for the first three times in school history with a Super Regional appearance in 2006. South Carolina Baseball Fall Practice Begins at New Stadium

The Villanova Wildcats hired Jim Carone as the new pitching coach. He comes to Villanova after spending the last two seasons with Rider. He brought Rider to the NCAA Tourney in 2008 where they participated in the NCAA Regional at Fullerton. San Jose State University baseball head coach Sam Piraro has announced the addition of former Spartan outfield standout Brian Yocke as his volunteer assistant coach to round out his staff.
Yocke participated in the program for just one season in 2007, but made his mark with a unique story of perseverance. He was cut after one day of tryouts at the start of the 2006 fall season, but returned to the baseball offices the very next day to ask to be given a second chance. Piraro and his staff allowed Yocke to continue training with the team through the fall. He eventually successfully walked on to the squad and earned a roster spot for the 2007 spring campaign. Head coach Tony Rossi announced the hiring of Joe Sinicola as the baseball team’s new pitching coach and recruiting coordinator effective immediately. Sinicola graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. where he played four seasons before serving as an assistant coach this past year.
Sinicola will be the primary assistant to Rossi, overseeing the development of the Saints’ pitching staff while handling a bulk of the program’s substantial recruiting responsibilities.
Former University of Memphis pitcher Brandon Rowan has joined the Pitt baseball coaching staff announced head coach Joe Jordano. Rowan, who most recently held the head coaching position at Crichton College in Memphis, Tenn., joins the Panthers’ staff as a volunteer assistant coach.
“I am very pleased to have a coach of Brandon Rowan’s character and experience join our staff,” said head coach Jordano.
