FARMVILLE, Va. — Longwood University Director of Athletics Troy Austin has announced the appointment of Ryan Mau as the fourth head coach of the Lancers’ tradition-rich baseball program. Mau, with 12 years of collegiate coaching experience, has been an assistant coach at the United States Naval Academy for the past four seasons, serving as the recruiting coordinator, as well as the pitching and catching coach.
“Ryan has established himself as a tireless recruiter and a stellar coach,” said Austin. “I have quickly come to learn that he has a passion for developing young people and a strong desire to lead the Longwood Baseball program. With the sudden departure of Rhode Island head coach Jim Foster to Boston College, College Baseball Daily has confirmed that the Rams will name Raphael Cerrato as the new head coach. Cerrato served as the top assistant to Foster for the past three seasons with the Rams after serving as the head coach at Division 2 power New Haven for five campaigns.
Murray State Director of Athletics Allen Ward has announced the hiring of MSU alum and Saint Louis associate head coach Kevin Moulder as the eighth head coach of the Racer baseball program Tuesday. Continue reading
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass announced the hiring of Louisville assistant coach Chris Lemonis as the 24th head coach of the Hoosier baseball program Wednesday. LITTLE ROCK – UALR Director of Athletics Chris Peterson has announced the hiring of Little Rock native Chris Curry as head baseball coach. A veteran of seven years as a catcher in professional baseball with the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants organizations, Curry recently completed his second year as top assistant and pitching coach at Northwestern State and previously worked on the baseball staffs at Arkansas, Arkansas Tech, Hendrix and Meridian Community College.
Matt Deggs joins Sam Houston State as the school’s eighth head baseball coach, Athletics Director Bobby Williams announced Friday. The former hitting coach for Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas A&M and Arkansas will bring his aggressive offensive approach to the Bearkats.
“I am very humbled and honored to have this opportunity and it is a privilege for me and my family to come be a part of Sam Houston State,” Deggs said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to lead the Bearkats in this new era of baseball and to be a great steward of the program that Mark Johnson and David Pierce did such a great job leading. WEST POINT, N.Y. – Matt Reid, who held the position of interim head baseball coach this past season, has been selected as Army’s new head baseball coach, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Boo Corrigan announced today. Reid becomes the 17th head coach in the program’s 124 year history.
“After an exhaustive national search, the search committee and I realized we had the best candidate for our job right here at Army West Point,” said Corrigan. “Matt has demonstrated outstanding leadership this past season and continues to put his stamp on the program. As we looked over the very attractive pool, Matt’s commitment to the values and standards of West Point made him the ideal candidate. GREENVILLE, N.C. – Cliff Godwin, a four-year Pirate letterman who has been a part of seven NCAA Regional and two College World Series appearances coaching at the Division I level, has been appointed head baseball coach at East Carolina University according to an announcement from director of athletics Jeff Compher on Wednesday. TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State University has hired Indiana University head coach Tracy Smith as its fifth baseball coach, pending approval by the Arizona Board of Regents, Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson announced Tuesday.
