LITTLE ROCK – UALR Director of Athletics Chris Peterson has announced the hiring of Little Rock native Chris Curry as head baseball coach. A veteran of seven years as a catcher in professional baseball with the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants organizations, Curry recently completed his second year as top assistant and pitching coach at Northwestern State and previously worked on the baseball staffs at Arkansas, Arkansas Tech, Hendrix and Meridian Community College.
Matt Deggs joins Sam Houston State as the school’s eighth head baseball coach, Athletics Director Bobby Williams announced Friday. The former hitting coach for Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas A&M and Arkansas will bring his aggressive offensive approach to the Bearkats.

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Matt Reid, who held the position of interim head baseball coach this past season, has been selected as Army’s new head baseball coach, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Boo Corrigan announced today. Reid becomes the 17th head coach in the program’s 124 year history.
“After an exhaustive national search, the search committee and I realized we had the best candidate for our job right here at Army West Point,” said Corrigan. “Matt has demonstrated outstanding leadership this past season and continues to put his stamp on the program. TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State University has hired Indiana University head coach Tracy Smith as its fifth baseball coach, pending approval by the Arizona Board of Regents, Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson announced Tuesday.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Grant Achilles, current assistant coach of the Brown University baseball team, has been named head coach of the program in an announcement made by Brown Director of Athletics Jack Hayes on Monday.
Achilles spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach for the Bears before taking over the head coaching duties midway through the 2014 season. Achilles becomes Brown’s 17th head coach since 1900, while the program was founded in 1863. Continue reading

Durkac has 12 years of coaching experience, including five seasons with the Redbirds, serving as an associate head coach for the past two seasons, and is widely respected throughout the sport. UNC Asheville will name Scott Friedholm as their next head coach. He had served the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Boston College. Before joining the Boston College staff, he spent time at Navy and Maine under Paul Kostacopoulos after an outstanding career at Providence College where he was an All-Big East squad member.
The six candidates bring a wide variety of collegiate and professional baseball experience, while several candidates have made it to the pinnacle of College Baseball, either playing or coaching in the College World Series. Continue reading
