NCBWA May 26 Division I poll

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 11th year with its 2008 weekly surveys. Polls will be circulated from Feb. 25-June 30 following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb. All 30 of the ranked teams and several receiving votes are head for the 16 NCAA Regionals Friday-Sunday/Monday, and the Top 30 includes 12 conference champs.

NCBWA Names Pro-Line Athletic National Players of the Week for May 20th

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending May 18, today. College of Charleston junior third baseman Jeremie Tice was named National Hitter of the Week, while Maryland sophomore right-hander Scott Swinson was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. NCBWA Announces 16 Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalists

LINCOLN, Neb. — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, working in conjunction with the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce, has released the list of 16 semifinalists for the 2008 Dick Howser Trophy, given to the top player in collegiate baseball. The membership of the NCBWA will choose the Dick Howser Trophy based on three rounds of voting. The 2008 winner will be announced just prior to the first game of the College World Series, with a press conference slated for Saturday, June 14, at 10 a.m. (CDT) at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. Coastal Carolina junior first baseman David Anderson was named National Hitter of the Week, while Long Beach State senior right-hander Andrew Liebel was named National Pitcher of the Week.
