BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Freshman Cal Quantrill threw a complete game and classmate Jack Klein hit a three-run home run to lead Stanford to an 8-1 win over Indiana State in the first game of the Bloomington Regional.

“It was a great game, great pitched game by both their left‑hander and Cal (Quantrill),” said Mark Marquess, the Clarke and Elizabeth Nelson Director of Baseball. “I thought Cal had one of his better games. He was sharp.” Continue reading

KyleFreelandEvansvilleMissouri Valley Conference Assistant Commissioner of New Media Derrick Docket recently sat down with Evansville seventh year head coach Wes Carroll and junior lefthanded pitcher Kyle Freeland. The Aces are currently 28-15 overall after a 9-4 loss to Southern Indiana on Tuesday evening. They are doing extremely well in Missouri Valley Conference play with a 9-3 record which puts them in first place by two games in the loss column. You can check out the full video interview below. SoCal Roundup: Tight Finishes

With a pair of Pac-12 games going extra innings and all but two other Southern California squads competing in games decided by two runs or less, Sunday was a day of tight action.

SoCal Roundup: Finding a Way

A number of Southern California squads had obstacles to overcome on Friday, but some were able to find a way to win, which is the name of the game once you get to this point in the season.

San Diego had a pair of heavily offensive innings, but was it enough on the road at San Francisco? UCLA and Arizona State’s aces struggled out of the gate, but one got better and led his team to victory. Find out who survived the battle.

UC Santa Barbara and San Diego State had their offenses get shut down, but one team was able to find a way to win. And Cal State Fullerton was on the road at Wichita State and without offensive leader Matt Chapman. Could the Titans get Thomas Eshelman enough offensive support?

SoCal Roundup: Walk-Off Winners

Three games came down to the wire and required walk-off wins — two to help a pair of SoCal squads wrap up a series win and one to crush the heart of the opponent after a valiant comeback.

UCLA went for a sweep while USC tried to win its first Pac-12 series. Cal State Fullerton tried to rebound after being shutout Saturday night and something must be in the water in San Diego — a day after the Toreros put up 18 runs their crosstown rivals matched the output.
