UT-Tyler Dominates Rematch with Hardin-Simmons

The seventh-ranked University of Texas at Tyler baseball team avenged and early season away loss to Hardin-Simmons in a big way on Tuesday night at Irwin Field, by downing the Cowboys, 17-6.

It was a big night offensively for UT Tyler, as they out hit Hardin-Simmons 25-to-10 and scored in every inning but the final one. Senior Clay Baker (Henderson, Texas) and junior Jared Hood (Marshall, Texas) both hit homeruns on the evening. Junior Joe Towns (Carrollton, Texas) went 5-for-6 with three runs, three doubles and two RBIs, while junior Kendall Fox (Carrollton, Texas) went 2-for-3 with three walks and two runs.

UT-Tyler Bounces Back With DH Sweep of UT Dallas

The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team ended its two-game skid by sweeping an American Southwest Conference East doubleheader with UT Dallas on Saturday afternoon at Irwin Field. The Patriots took the first game, 5-3, and shutout the Comets in the second game, 7-0.

In game one, UT Dallas second baseman Chris Bigunet did the same thing in his first at bat today that he did yesterday, hit a 2 RBI homerun. However, Bigunet would not be the only one going yard on Saturday afternoon as junior Joe Towns (Carrollton, Texas) hit a two-run homer in the first and solo shot in the third. The homeruns were UT Tyler’s 30th and 31st of the season.

UT-Tyler losses a wild one to Austin College.

SHERMAN, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team fell to Austin College, 8-7, on Tuesday night in Sherman in one of the strangest endings to a game in program history.

Both team’s would remain scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning when Austin would post four runs, three by home run, but with all four being unearned.

Gotham Baseball Weekend Recap

Our good friend Chip Armonaitis of Gotham Baseball sent us a link to his Weekend Recap of the Gotham area baseball programs. There was only one major upset with Fordham beating Virginia Tech if you really want to call that an upset. Endicott College names new Head Coach

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College has announced the appointment of Bryan Haley as the new head baseball coach. Bryan will also work in the admission office in the capacity as Assistant Director.

Bryan comes to Endicott with an extensive coaching background having served as the assistant coach at his alma mater, Brandeis University, in 2000 and 2002. While at Brandeis, Haley coached a pitching staff that ranked 16th in the nation with a 3.41 ERA and earned an NCAA New England Regional Tournament bid. NCBWA and D3baseball.com releases 2008 Preseason Division III Poll
