We are finally starting to settle into the season and enjoy the competition and camaraderie that comes along with it. The returners are resuming their roles and the newcomers are finding their place of comfort within the lineup. Maryland’s Mike Montville transferring to Southern New Hampshire

MichaelMontvilleMaryland outfielder Mike Montville will transfer to Southern New Hampshire at the end of the season according to Mike Zhe of Fosters.com. Montville will be entering his redshirt senior season in the fall of 2014 after suffering an elbow injury during the 2013 season which allowed he to get a medical redshirt.

Montville states in the article from Fosters.com that he is transferring due to the fact that the Terps are heading into the Big Ten next season and the Maryland style brought in by second year head coach John Szefc which focuses on bunting doesn’t fit his style well. 2014 Division 2 Bracket Announced

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee has selected the 48 teams that will participate in the 2014 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.

The championship provides for eight regional sites hosting six teams. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played May 15-18. Regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 24-31 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. Longtime Saginaw Valley State Coach placed on Administrative Leave

Division 2 member Saginaw Valley State placed head baseball coach Walt Head on paid administrative leave prior to a game on April 17th. Head had been in his 31st season in charge of the Cardinal baseball program before being placed on leave. The charges against Head are extremely damaging according to a letter that was signed by 30 players and hand delivered to the Athletic Director by the three captains.
