Maryland outfielder Mike Montville will transfer to Southern New Hampshire at the end of the season according to Mike Zhe of Fosters.com. Montville will be entering his redshirt senior season in the fall of 2014 after suffering an elbow injury during the 2013 season which allowed he to get a medical redshirt.
Montville states in the article from Fosters.com that he is transferring due to the fact that the Terps are heading into the Big Ten next season and the Maryland style brought in by second year head coach John Szefc which focuses on bunting doesn’t fit his style well. INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee has selected the 48 teams that will participate in the 2014 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.
The championship provides for eight regional sites hosting six teams. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played May 15-18. Regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 24-31 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The Tampa Spartans completed their 2014 regular season yesterday breaking the record for winning percentage in a regular season with a 47-2 record after their 13-4 victory over Florida Tech on Sunday. Division 2 member Saginaw Valley State placed head baseball coach Walt Head on paid administrative leave prior to a game on April 17th. Head had been in his 31st season in charge of the Cardinal baseball program before being placed on leave. The charges against Head are extremely damaging according to a letter that was signed by 30 players and hand delivered to the Athletic Director by the three captains. Hello everyone. It is getting close to that time for all of us who are in love…with baseball. Sure Valentine’s Day is coming up but more importantly (I’m glad my girlfriend doesn’t read this) it’s the start of the college baseball season. All of the hard work recruiting, developing on the field, in the weight room and now it’s time to put on the uniform and play some baseball. I know for the 2014 Post University Eagles we are excited to be on a real field. We have used indoor cages, turf football fields, parking lots, and whatever free space we can find to get ready for our opening day which is also this weekend. We will be headed down to face NE-10 St. Rose in Richmond, Virginia in beautiful 55 degree weather which after all of the snow we have received across New England will seem like beach weather. We continue the countdown today with number 75, Catawba pitcher John Tuttle. In his junior season with the Indians, Tuttle went 10-4 and his 82.2 innings pitched was good for 2nd best on the staff. After a successful sophomore campaign, Tuttle had high expectations for the 2013 season and he did not disappoint. Posting a 3.92 ERA the right-hander also had 78 strikeouts which were good for 2nd highest on the team and his 18 walks was a career low for the pitcher. Continue reading Top 100 Countdown: 75.
