UTSA Tourney Preview

The University of Texas-San Antonio is hosting a great tournament on the opening weekend. Joining the Roadrunners this season is Army, Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas Tech, and Oral Roberts. Texas Tech added to UTSA Baseball Classic

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been added to the UTSA Baseball Classic this weekend after having to cancel their series against Northern Illinois after the tragedies that took place on that campus last week. The Red Raiders will open up play against Louisiana on Saturday at 10 am. They will then play Army on Sunday at 10 am and finish play against UTSA on Monday at 2 pm. CSTV checks in on Turtle Thomas

CSTV editor Doug Kroll recently checked in on new Florida International coach Turtle Thomas. He has been one of the most successful coaches in the country as he has been to the CWS 14 times in his great assistant coaching career. His most recent stop was at Arizona State where he helped coach the Sun Devils to the CWS last season. He has also spent time with Georgia Tech, LSU, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Miami (FL) over the last 30 years. The full article is available here.

CSTV Editor Doug Kroll checks in with his weekly article on the top college baseball players. The position in which he focuses on this week is the closer. ARIZONA NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER POLL

TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Arizona has been ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s Fabulous 40 pre-season NCAA Division I poll.

The Wildcats have their strongest team since winning national championships in 1976, 1980 and 1986 as nine position player starters are back along with seven superb pitchers from a team which finished second in the Pac-10 Conference a year ago with a 42-17 overall record. Continue reading
