This past weekend we went to St. Louis to take on St. Louis University and Air Force. I’m going to speak for the whole team and say both games were disappointing. 2012 CBD Mid-Major Poll (March 19th)

For the second week in a row there is a new #1. TCU (11-6) moves up 2 spots to take over the top spot. The Horned Frogs had a perfect 5-0 week, beating Texas Tech on Tuesday, winning at UTSA Wednesday and sweeping UNLV on the road to open Mountain West play.

CBD Journal with Western Illinois (March 6th)

This week was a very exciting time to be associated with the baseball team here at Western Illinois. We jumped on the bus and traveled the 13 hours to Athens, Ga. to take on a perennial SEC powerhouse Georgia. Although we lost the first two games in gut-wrenching fashion, we were able to come back on Sunday and put up a good showing in a 7-4 victory. Continue reading

This past weekend we went down to Georgia State and I think I can speak for everyone and say it was a disappointment. I do not think GSU won the series; I think we lost it. CBD Journal with Western Illinois (Feb. 15th)

As the season approaches the Leathernecks have not been forgotten in the preseason polls. We have been predicted to finish second, and in the past second would have been satisfying. Coach Villano has brought a new swagger to WIU Baseball. New additions to the coaching staff of Shane Davis and Mike Vucsko, have become a great fit for the program to help assist the ball club with Cooper Stewart. Together they have done plenty of remodeling in their time here at Western, and now have the luxury of coaching a team they have built through personal recruitment. The newest crop of freshman added to the squad this fall are ready to make an impact and are just a preview of what is to come. Continue reading
